Hochschule Für Musik Saar
The Hochschule für Musik Saar is a conservatory of music in Saarbrücken, Germany and dates back to 1947. From 1994 until 2002, it was named ''Hochschule des Saarlandes für Musik und Theater'' (University of Music and Drama Saarbrücken). Since 2012, the rector is Prof. Wolfgang Mayer. As of 2019, approximately 450 students are enrolled and taught by 150 teachers in courses and classes for musicians and music teachers. History and Location The Hochschule was founded in 1947 as "Staatliches Konservatorium Saarbrücken," following the model of the Conservatoire de Paris. In 1971, the Hochschule moved into the newly opened building at Bismarckstrasse near the city center. Three years later, a new organ by Klais Orgelbau for the main auditorium was dedicated. Gerd Boder
Gerd Boder (13 June 1933, Saarbrücken – 2 June 1992) was a German composer. He studied music at the Hochschule für Musik Saar, the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Poitiers, and the Conservatoire de Paris. Among his teachers were Heinrich Konietzny, Jean Rivier, and Noël Gallon Noël Jean-Charles André Gallon (11 September 1891 – 26 December 1966) was a French composer and music educator. His compositional output includes several choral works and vocal art songs, 10 preludes, a ''Toccata'' for piano, a ''Sonata .... Marc Engelhardt
Marc Engelhardt is a German bassoonist. From 1976 to 1982, he studied with Prof. Günter Pfitzenmaier in Cologne and from 1982 to 1986, with Prof. Klaus Thunemann in Hannover. Engelhardt is an alumnus of the German National Youth Orchestra and the European Union Youth Orchestra, and was appointed principal bassoonist with the Saarbrücken Radio Orchestra in 1986. He has performed as a soloist with European orchestras and has also performed as guest principal bassoonist in several major German orchestras such as: Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, Hessischer Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra, North German Radio Symphony Orchestra, Southwest German Radio Symphony Orchestra and Bamberg Symphony. Thomas Duis
Thomas Duis (born 1958, in Frankfurt) is a German pianist. Duis studied with Kurt Gerecke in Wiesbaden, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling in Hannover and Fanny Waterman in Leeds. He was the top-ranking pianist at the 1986 Artur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv (he was awarded the 2nd prize, the 1st being declared void), and was awarded 2nd prize at the 1986 Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition and 3rd prizes at the 1985 Sydney Competition and the 1987 ARD Competition in Munich. Duis had his discographical debut for EMI, and has performed internationally since. He was the rector of the Hochschule des Saarlandes für Musik und Theater until 2012, and is a musical ambassador for the Goethe-Institut. Eduard Brunner
Eduard Brunner (14 July 1939 – 27 April 2017) was a classical music, classical clarinetist. He began his musical education in Basel (Switzerland) where he was born, continuing his studies at the Paris Conservatoire with Louis Cahuzac. For thirty years he was the first Clarinet of the Munich's Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and later he was Professor of Clarinet and Chamber Music at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Saarbrücken (Germany). His concert engagements as soloist and in chamber ensembles took him around the world and he frequently participated in Music Festivals at Lockenhaus, Vienna, Moscow, Warsaw, Schleswig-Holstein, Berlin, amongst others. Walter Blankenheim
Walter Blankenheim (30 August 1926 – 11 March 2007) was a German pianist, teacher and conductor, noted for his advocacy of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. He studied at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart (1946–1954) with Jürgen Uhde and Vladimir Horbowski and later in Paris with Marguerite Long. Further studies included courses with Géza Anda and Wilhelm Kempff. He won prizes in a number of competitions, including: Vercelli 1952 (2nd Prize), München – ARD 1952 and 1953 (Diplomas), Paris 1953 (Diploma), Casella 1954 (1st Prize). Tanja Becker-Bender (born 11 February 1978) is a German violinist. She lives in Berlin and Hamburg. Martin Welzel (born November 11, 1972 in Vechta, West Germany) is a German organist, musicologist, and pedagogue. Biography Martin Welzel received his first musical training in Bremen, where Käte van Tricht (a former student of Karl Straube) was one of his teachers. Between 1993 and 2001, he studied organ with Daniel Roth and Wolfgang Rübsam, piano with Kristin Merscher, and harpsichord with Gerald Hambitzer at the Hochschule für Musik Saar in Saarbrücken. Marc Schubring (born 13 April 1968 in Berlin) is a German composer. Marc Schubring was born in Berlin, studied composition with Theo Brandmüller at the University of the Saarland, was Head of Theatrical Music at the Theater Saarbrücken from 1994 to 1999 and is a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, New York and the Dramatists Guild of America. Peter Reulein (born 1966) is a German composer, organ improviser, academic teacher and church musician, from 2000 at the church Liebfrauen in Frankfurt am Main. In 2016 he composed for the Catholic Diocese of Limburg the Franciscan oratorio ''Laudato si'''.
