__NOTOC__ The Bern Academy of Arts () is an art school with locations in Bern and Biel/Bienne. It was created in 2003 from the merger of the University of Music and Theatre and the School of Design, Art and Conservation. The educational institution is one of eight departments of the Bern University of Applied Sciences. Students and lecturers of the HKB come from over 30 countries. The HKB works in research and as an organizer according to information closely with Swiss and international partners from culture, society and economy together, enabling even large-scale projects such as the Biennale Bern. It also contributes to cultural life in Berne. Kaspar Zehnder
Kaspar Zehnder (born 27 August 1970 in Riggisberg, Canton of Bern) is a Swiss conductor and flutist. He studied classical languages at the Lyceum in Bern and music at the University of the Arts Bern. His music teachers included Heidi Indermühle (flute), Ewald Körner (conducting), Agathe Rytz-Jaggi (piano) and Peter Streiff and Arthur Furer (music theory). He further took conducting master classes with Ralf Weikert, Werner-Andreas Albert and Horst Stein. He also studied chamber music and was a member of the Mozart European Academy, where his main mentor was Aurèle Nicolet. Zehnder gained his first conducting experience with the ''Kammerorchester Neufeld Bern'' and the ''Burgdorfer Kammerorchester''. Luzia Von Wyl
Luzia von Wyl (born 1985) is a Swiss jazz pianist, composer, and music educator. She first studied classical piano before switching to jazz piano and music composition, earning degrees from University of the Arts Bern, Zurich University of the Arts, the Lucerne School of Music, and the University of Zurich. Latefa Wiersch (born 1982) is a German-Swiss visual artist. She works mostly with textile materials, creates sculptures, anthropomorphic objects, puppets, installations and performances. Life Latefa Wiersch was born and grew up in Dortmund, West Germany. She first studied Design at the Fachhochschule Bielefeld, later Fine Arts at the Berlin University of the Arts and earned a transdisciplinary Master's degree at the University of the Arts Bern. Martin Schenkel (25 April 1968 – 26 March 2003) was a Swiss television actor and musician starring usually in Swiss German television productions. Biography Martin Schenkel was born in Basel and after high school attended the University of the Arts Bern in Bern to study drama. He then moved to Germany for an engagement at the State Theater, Karlsruhe. His most popular role is the character of ''Flip'' in the Swiss comedy serial ''Fascht e Familie'' in the 1990s, where he had to break for reasons of health. Maximilian Schell
Maximilian Schell (8 December 1930 – 1 February 2014) was a Swiss actor. Born in First Austrian Republic, Austria, his parents were involved in the arts and he grew up surrounded by performance and literature. Andreas Reize
Andreas Reize (born 19 May 1975) is a Swiss organist and conductor, with a focus on opera and choral conducting. He was appointed Thomaskantor on 11 September 2021, becoming the 18th director of music to take charge of the world famous Thomanerchor at Leipzig in succession to Johann Sebastian Bach. Career Reize was born and grew up in Solothurn, where he passed the Matura in 1996. He was a long-term member of the Singknaben der St. Ursenkathedrale Solothurn.
