Hinwil Railway Station
Hinwil railway station (german: Bahnhof Hinwil) is a railway station in the Swiss canton of Zurich and municipality of Hinwil. The station is situated at the junction of the Effretikon to Hinwil via Wetzikon railway line, which is still in full use, and the Uerikon to Bauma railway (UeBB), which is partly closed and partly used as a heritage railway. Hinwil station is the terminus of Zurich S-Bahn route S14, which operates from Zurich via Uster and Wetzikon. Hinwil station is also the terminus of services of the Dampfbahn-Verein Zürcher Oberland (DVZO), who operate heritage services to Bauma, over the former UeBB, with trains normally hauled by steam locomotives. The UeBB line in the other direction, towards Uerikon, was closed in 1948 and little now remains. History The village Hinwil from which the later municipality took its name is first mentioned in 745 as ''Hunichinwilari'', in a donation made by Beata and Landolt to the Abbey of Saint Gall. Uerikon
Uerikon (also spelled Ürikon) is a village near Rapperswil, Switzerland. Geography Uerikon is located on the north bank of the Zürichsee (Lake Zürich) in the Pfannenstiel region and is part of the political municipality of Stäfa. In the local dialect it is called ''Ürike''. History and points of interest There is an old mansion (''Ritterhuus'') built in 1531 that bases on a tiny castle of 1492 serving as place of the former local administration of the Einsiedeln Abbey. Steam Locomotive
A steam locomotive is a locomotive that provides the force to move itself and other vehicles by means of the expansion of steam. It is fuelled by burning combustible material (usually coal, oil or, rarely, wood) to heat water in the locomotive's boiler to the point where it becomes gaseous and its volume increases 1,700 times. Bauma
The bauma (International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines, Construction Vehicles and Construction Equipment) is the world's largest trade fair in the construction industry. The trade fair, which can be visited by anyone, is held every three years on the grounds of the Neue Messe München and lasts for seven days. Its organizer is Messe München. Wetzikon is a small town in the Zurich Highlands (Zürcher Oberland) area of Switzerland, in the district of Hinwil in the canton of Zürich. Geography The municipality Wetzikon has an area of . Uster
Uster (High Alemannic: ''Uschter'') is a town and the capital of the Uster District in the Swiss canton of Zürich. It is the third largest town in the canton of Zürich, with almost 35,000 inhabitants, and is one of the twenty largest towns in Switzerland. Uster is located next to a lake, called Greifensee. The S14 is a regional railway line of the Zürich S-Bahn on the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV), Zürich transportation network, in the canton of Zürich, Switzerland.
