Hinsdale is a village in Cook and DuPage counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. Hinsdale is a western suburb of Chicago. The population was 17,395 at the 2020 census, most of whom lived in DuPage County. The town's ZIP code is 60521. The town has a rolling, wooded topography, with a downtown, and is a 22-minute express train ride to downtown Chicago on the Burlington Northern line. Geography Hinsdale is located west of Chicago and is bordered by Western Springs to the east, Clarendon Hills and Westmont to the west, Oak Brook to the north, and Burr Ridge and Willowbrook to the south. It can be reached by highway from Interstate 294 or Interstate 55. The eastern boundary of Hinsdale is I-294, and the western boundary is Route 83. Hinsdale Station
Hinsdale is one of three stations on Metra's BNSF Line in Hinsdale, Illinois, and the only one open daily (the other two are only served during rush hours). The station is from Union Station, the east end of the line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Hinsdale is in zone D. As of 2018, Hinsdale is the 35th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,155 weekday boardings. There is a historic staffed station and commercial use building. Originally known as the Brush Hill Train Station, the depot was designed for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad by staff architect Walter Theodore Krausch, built by Grace & Hyde Company in 1899, and is listed as a contributing building in the Downtown Hinsdale Historic District. Hinsdale is home to part of Pisgah State Park in the northeast, and part of Wantastiquet Mountain State Forest in the northwest. Hinsdale is a census-designated place (CDP) and the main village in the town of Hinsdale in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, United States. The population of the CDP was 1,485 at the 2020 census, out of 3,948 in the entire town of Hinsdale. Geography The CDP is in the south-central part of the town of Hinsdale, between the Connecticut River to the west and the Winchester town line to the east. The Ashuelot River, a tributary of the Connecticut, flows through the eastern and southern part of the CDP. New Hampshire Route 119 passes through the center of the village as Brattleboro Road, Main Street, and Canal Street; it leads east to Winchester and northwest to Brattleboro, Vermont. Grace Webster Hinsdale (, Haddock; May 17, 1832 — August 31, 1902) was an American author whose early development of a religious temperament prompted her most successful literary work. Both of her books, ''Coming to the King: a Book of Daily Devotions for Children'' and ''Thinking Aloud'', were first published in 1865. She was a contributor for about 30 years to periodicals, principally verses, but also short sketches. Hinsdale died in 1902. Early years and education Grace Webster Haddock was born at Hanover, New Hampshire, May 17, 1832. She was the daughter of Rev. Prof. Charles Brickett Haddock, D.D. of Dartmouth College, and Susan Saunders (Lang) Haddock. Her mother was the daughter of Richard Lang, of Hanover, and her maternal great-grandfather was Col.
