Hillsdale High School is a public co-educational high school in San Mateo, California, serving grades 9–12 as part of the San Mateo Union High School District. Hillsdale generally serves the residents of San Mateo and Foster City. The main feeder schools to Hillsdale are Abbott, Bayside, Borel, and Bowditch Middle Schools of the San Mateo-Foster City School District. History When it opened in 1955, Hillsdale High School was awarded the School Design Award from the American Institute of Architects. It served as the prototype for Bay Area high schools, with indoor/outdoor passages, landscaped courtyards, and skylights in classrooms. The design is credited to John Lyon Reid. Hillsdale is the largest city and county seat of Hillsdale County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 8,036 at the 2020 census. The city is the home of Hillsdale College, a private liberal arts college noted for its academics and its influence in politics and education. History This area is located in the rolling, fertile hills of South Central Michigan, bordering Indiana and Ohio, according to the boundaries set up under United States settlement. It was long occupied by the Potowatomi, an Algonquian-speaking people who were part of a long-term alliance, called the Council of Three Fires, with the Ojibwe and Odawa (Ottawa). A Potowatomi band of about 150 people, led by the chief known as Baw Beese, had a base camp near the large lake in the area. Hillsdale High School is a public high school near Jeromesville, Ohio, United States. The building is located in Mohican Township in between the villages of Jeromesville and Hayesville. Athletic teams are known as the Falcons, and the school colors are Columbia Blue, Navy Blue and gold. The school opened in the fall of 1964. History The idea for Hillsdale High School was born in 1961 when Jeromesville and Hayesville decided to merge their school districts. Joyce Justice's suggestion for the name "Hillsdale" was selected as the winner of the contest to name the school. A committee made up of representatives from both districts agreed on the school colors of Columbia blue and gold, and the nickname the "Falcons". The school eventually opened in the fall of 1964. The first senior class graduated in 1965. Jeromesville, Ohio
Jeromesville is a village in Ashland County, Ohio, United States. The population was 531 at the 2020 census. History Jeromesville was platted in 1815 ( near the site of a former and abandoned Native-American village named "Jerometown"). It is named for Jean/John Baptiste Jerome, (a French-Canadian fur trader and pioneer settler), from whom, Christian Deardorf and William Vaughn purchased land and 'founded' a new pioneer village, (which was originally spelled "Jeromeville"). A post office has been in operation at Jeromesville since 1816.
