Hillier is a northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is located in the Town of Gawler. Geography Hillier is a western suburb of the Gawler local government area. It is primarily bounded by Angle Vale Road, Wingate Road, the Sturt Highway and the Gawler River. Demographics The 2006 Census by the Australian Bureau of Statistics counted 674 persons in Hillier on census night. Of these, 50% were male and 50% were female. The majority of residents (55.8%) are of Australian birth, with other common census responses being England (31.8%), Scotland (2.1%) and Italy (2.1%). The age distribution of Hillier residents is skewed higher than the greater Australian population. 86.7% of residents were over 25 years in 2006, compared to the Australian average of 66.5%; and 13.3% were younger than 25 years, compared to the Australian average of 33.5%. Hillier, Ontario
Hillier is a community located in Prince Edward County, Ontario. Established in 1823, it was named after Major George Hillier (d. 1840), British Army officer and military secretary to Sir Peregrine Maitland from 1818 to 1828. It is located on the Loyalist Parkway or Highway 33 and is roughly 30 minutes from Belleville, Ontario. Hillier's population is roughly 100 people. The town hall, which is at the centre of the hamlet, was once a school and has been marked as a national historical site. Hillier is ward 7 of the 10 wards in Prince Edward County. The ward consists of several communities including Consecon, Melville, Rosehall and Hillier. Hillier is well known in its area for its many wineries, as well as its Hillier in the Park Day, which takes place in August and regularly draws in hundreds of families from the Prince Edward County area. Achille Baraguey D'Hilliers
Louis-Achille Baraguey d'Hilliers (6 September 1795 – 6 June 1878), 1st Comte Baraguey d'Hilliers, was a Marshal of France and politician. Baraguey d'Hilliers was born in Paris, the son of the French revolutionary general Louis Baraguey d'Hilliers. He was educated at the Prytanée National Militaire and joined the Grande Armée. Baraguey d'Hilliers served as a second lieutenant in the Russian campaign of 1812, and in 1813 was an aide-de-camp to Marshal Marmont at the Battle of Leipzig, where he lost his left hand. Promoted to captain in 1815, he fought at Quatre Bras. In 1823, he served in the campaign to restore Bourbon power in Spain, where he remained until 1825. He distinguished himself in Algeria, where he was promoted to colonel after the capture of Algiers in 1830. Louis Baraguey d'Hilliers (13 August 1764 – 6 January 1813) was a French Army general who fought in the French Revolutionary Wars and the Napoleonic Wars. He was the father of Achille Baraguey d'Hilliers, a Marshal of France, and the father-in-law of General Damrémont, governor-general of Algeria. French Revolution Louis Baraguay d'Hilliers was born in Paris. He was a minor noble and entered the French Army as a lieutenant in 1784. At the start of the French Revolutionary Wars, he decided to remain in France. By 1793, he had been promoted during the siege of Mainz to général de brigade and served as chief of staff to Adam Custine. When Custine was arrested, Baraguey d'Hilliers was arrested as well. Luckier than his chief who died under the guillotine, he was released after the overthrow and execution of Maximilien Robespierre. Sean Hillier (born 19 April 1986) is an English former semi-professional footballer who played as a defender. Hillier began his career at Brentford and made one professional appearance before dropping into non-League football upon his release in 2005. He played the majority of his career for North Greenford United and made over 250 appearances across five spells with the club. He is currently assistant coach of Brentford Women. Randy Alexander Hillier (born 1958) is a Canadian politician who served as a member of provincial parliament (MPP) in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 2007-2022. Hillier represented the riding of Lanark—Frontenac—Kingston as an independent MPP from 2019 to 2022. This riding contains much of the dissolved riding of Lanark—Frontenac—Lennox and Addington, which he represented from 2007 to 2018. Hillier was initially elected as a Progressive Conservative (PC) Party MPP, remaining a member until he was removed in 2019. Despite announcing that he would run for election under the banner of the Ontario First Party in November 2021, Hillier announced in March 2022 that he would not seek re-election. As a youth, he played in the 1973 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Toronto.
