Higher (Treponem Pal Album)
''Higher'' is the fourth studio album by French industrial metal band Treponem Pal, released on 26 August 1997 by Mercury Records. Being the band's major-label debut, the album was produced by KMFDM frontman Sascha Konietzko. The tracks "Renegade", "Funk Me" and the cover of Lipps Inc.'s "Funky Town" were released as singles; the remix EP ''Panorama Remixes'' was also released in 1998. It is the band's last album before their 2001 hiatus, during which they formed the reggae band Elephant System. Treponem Pal resumed activity with a new line-up in 2006, releasing the follow-up record ''Weird Machine'' in 2008. Background and promotion Sascha Konietzko was the band's first choice as a producer. Recording ''Higher'' in Seattle, the band sought to incorporate influences from reggae and dub, which they were fans of. Treponem Pal
Treponem Pal is a French industrial metal band formed in Paris in 1986. The current line-up of the band consists of Marco Neves (vocals), Polak (guitar), Didier Bréard (sampler), Mathys Dubois (drums) and Syn-Anton (bass). The band went through multiple line-up changes with Neves being the only constant member. The band is named after ''treponema pallidum'', the bacterium that causes syphilis. The band's music was described as a mixture of "aggressive metal and a hint of industrial" similar to Godflesh and The Young Gods. History Treponem Pal formed in France in 1986. Their first (''Treponem Pal'') and third ('' Excess & Overdrive'') albums were produced by Franz Treichler (The Young Gods). ''Libération'' (), popularly known as ''Libé'' (), is a daily newspaper in France, founded in Paris by Jean-Paul Sartre and Serge July in 1973 in the wake of the protest movements of May 1968. Sampler (musical Instrument)
A sampler is an electronic or digital musical instrument which uses sound recordings (or " samples") of real instrument sounds (e.g., a piano, violin, trumpet, or other synthesizer), excerpts from recorded songs (e.g., a five-second bass guitar riff from a funk song) or found sounds (e.g., sirens and ocean waves). The samples are loaded or recorded by the user or by a manufacturer. These sounds are then played back by means of the sampler program itself, a MIDI keyboard, sequencer or another triggering device (e.g., electronic drums) to perform or compose music. Because these samples are usually stored in digital memory, the information can be quickly accessed. White Zombie (band)
White Zombie was an American heavy metal music, heavy metal band that formed in 1985.
