High-Low (game Show)
''High Low'' was an American game show that aired on NBC from July 4 to September 19, 1957. The series was a summer replacement for the variety show '' The Ford Show''. Jack Barry was the emcee and Don Pardo was the announcer. ''High Low'' was broadcast from Studio 6A at NBC Studios in the Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. Game play One contestant, stationed in an isolation booth, competed against a three-member panel of celebrities in a test of knowledge inspired by the game High-Low Poker. On his or her first appearance, the contestant was staked $500 of betting money. Barry posed a question containing multiple answers to both the contestant and the panel. Each member of the panel would secretly bid on how many correct answers he or she could give to the question. The panel, studio audience, and home audience could see the bids, but the contestant could not due to the way the booth was situated. After being told the amount of the "high" bid, the contestant would be given a ...

High–low Pricing
High–low pricing (or hi–low pricing) is a type of pricing strategy adopted by companies, usually small and medium-sized retail firms, where a firm initially charges a high price for a product and later, when it has become less desirable, sells it at a discount or through clearance sales. Prospective customers may be unaware of a product's typical market price, or have a strong belief that " discount" is synonymous with "low price", or have strong loyalty to the product, brand or retailer. High–low pricing strategy is effective because of consumer preference and shopping frequency.  Consumers with higher income strongly prefer the high-low pricing and they shop frequently in the brand stores they like. Usage There are many big firms using this type of pricing strategy (including, in North America, Reebok, Nike, and Target). Competition in shoemaking and the fashion industry is partly through high–low pricing (for example Macy's, Nordstrom). But some firms will not pro ...

High–low System
The high–low system (or high–low pressure system, high–low propulsion system, high–low projection system) is a design of cannon and anti-tank warfare launcher using a smaller high-pressure chamber to store propellant. It allows a much larger projectile to be launched without the heavy equipment usually needed for large caliber weapons. When the propellant is ignited, the higher pressure gases are bled out through vents (or ports) at reduced pressure to a much larger low pressure chamber to push a projectile forward. The high-low system allows the weight of the weapon and its ammunition to be reduced significantly. Production cost and time are drastically lower than for standard cannon or other small-arm weapon systems firing a projectile of the same size and weight. It has a far more efficient use of the propellant, unlike earlier recoilless weapons, where most of the propellant is expended to the rear of the weapon to counter the recoil of the projectile being fired. Origin ...
