Augusta Sophie Hermine Bernhoft-Osa (September 27, 1865 – August 7, 1929) was a Norwegian children's book author. Hermine Bernhoft-Osa was the daughter of the prison priest and catechist Theodor Kristian Bernhoft (1833–1885) and Petra Martine Augusta Bernhoft (1841–?). She was the sister of the actress Sofie Bernhoft. She was married to the author Lars Osa (1860–1950) and was the mother of the fiddler and folk musician Sigbjørn Bernhoft Osa, who was born in Ulvik in 1910. Lars Osa
Lars Osa (13 August 1860 – 9 February 1958) was a Norwegian artist. He also worked with church decoration and restoration and was a noted fiddle player. Biography Lars Andersen was born in the village of Ulvik in Ulvik municipality in Hordaland county, Norway. When Lars Osa was five years old, the family moved from the (larger) village of Ulvik into the (very small) village of Osa, located about away, at the end of the Osa Fjord, an arm of the Hardangerfjord. He grew up in an environment characterized by a living folk tradition. He visited Knud Bergslien in Eidfjord and received his first art lessons from him. That same year he went to Christiania and was a pupil at Tegneskolen. In 1882 he was admitted as a student at the Art Academy in Copenhagen. Sigbjørn Bernhoft Osa
Sigbjørn Bernhoft Osa (3 May 1910 2 February 1990) was a Norwegian fiddler and traditional folk musician. He was one of the best known Norwegian performers of folk music in the 1900s. Personal life Osa was born in Ulvik, Hardanger as the son of fiddler and painter Lars Osa and children's writer Hermine Bernhoft-Osa. He spent his first years in Valle, Setesdal, and moved to Voss when he was six years old. He was married to Kersti Alice Grambo from 1937, and to Anne Heggtveit from 1950. He was the father of actress Liv Bernhoft Osa (b. 1957). He died in Voss in 1990. Career Osa's father was a skilled violin and Hardingfele player, and the boy started to play both instruments. He studied violin with Bjarne Brustad in Oslo, then in Bergen with the academy of Musikselskabet Harmoniens orkester from 1929 to 1930, and in Berlin from 1931 to 1932. Petra Marie Sofie Bernhoft (July 21, 1870 – February 17, 1966) was a Norwegian actress. Sofie Bernhoft was the daughter of the prison priest and catechist Theodor Kristian Bernhoft (1833–1885) and Petra Martine Augusta Bernhoft (1841–?). She was the sister of the writer Hermine Bernhoft-Osa. She was married to the violinist and composer Halfdan Jebe (1868–1937). Bernhoft started performing at the Central Theater in 1897, initially under Johan Fahlstrøm and later under the leadership of Rudolf Rasmussen. During the 1900–1901 season she was engaged with the Second Theater ( no, Sekondteatret), and then in 1903 she started performing at the Fahlstrøm Theater. Ulvik is a village in the municipality of Ulvik which is located in Vestland county, Norway. The village sits at the end of the Ulvikafjorden, a side arm off of the main Hardangerfjord. The village lies about north of the Hardanger Bridge and about east of the village of Vossevangen. The village has a population (2019) of 534 and a population density of . Setesdal (; older name: Sætersdal) is a valley and a traditional district in Agder County in southern Norway. It consists of the municipalities of Bykle, Valle, Bygland, Iveland, and Evje og Hornnes. The Otra river flows through the valley of Setesdal into the sea near Kristiansand. It flows southward from the Hardangervidda plateau in Telemark.
