Hermann Von Königsbrunn
Hermann Freiherr von Königsbrunn (1 March 1823, Bad Radkersburg - 16 February 1907, Graz) was an Austrian landscape painter. Biography His family had been elevated to the nobility in 1685 and obtained rights to the title of Freiherr in 1716. He studied in Graz, where he frequented the studios of the landscape painter and author, , and developed an interest in art. After that, he attended Theresian Academy in Vienna. In 1845, he graduated from there and found his first employment; as a civil servant. In 1848, he decided to pursue a career as a painter and studied with Leopold Rottmann, a lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich. In addition to his lessons, he copied landscapes created by one of the other Professors there, Eduard Schleich. After returning home for a short time, he went to Salzburg in 1850 and worked with the landscape painter, Johann Fischbach. Ludwig Karl Schmarda
Ludwig Karl Schmarda (23 August 1819 – 7 April 1908) was an Austrians, Austrian natural science, naturalist and traveler, born at Olomouc, Olmütz, Moravia. Early life and education Schmarda was born at Olomouc, Olmütz where he attended the Grammar School and the Philosophical Course at the University of Olomouc. He graduated in 1841. He studied medicine and science at the Josephinum, now part of the Medical University of Vienna , particularly interested in zoology, graduating in 1843 as "Dr Med et Chir.", as well as Magister of Ophthalmology and Gynecology. Career In 1843 he was appointed Chief Field Physician to the dragoon regiment, a mounted infantry ("Dragonerregiment"), and at the same time acted as assistant to "special natural history" at the Josephsakademie. During two scientific journeys to the Adriatic Sea, in 1844 and 1846, he made collections of marine life. Alfred Zoff (11 December 1852, in Graz – 12 August 1927, in Graz) was an Austrian Post-Impressionist landscape painter. Biography His father was a doctor who originally came from Carinthia. He decided to become an artist at an early age and, although he began by studying medicine, in 1869 he took classes at the State Drawing Academy in Graz with the landscape painter, Hermann von Königsbrunn. Ernestine Von Kirchsberg
Ernestine von Kirchsberg (12 August 1857, Verona, Italy – 8 October 1924, Graz, Austria) was an Austrian landscape painter. Biography She was born in Italy. It is not known why her parents were there. Back in Graz, she began taking art lessons in 1873 at the "Landschaftliche Zeichenakademie" (Landscape Drawing Academy) with Hermann von Königsbrunn. After 1881, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, with Eduard Peithner von Lichtenfels, August Schaeffer and Hugo Darnaut. Her first exhibit followed shortly, at the Vienna Künstlerhaus. It was Darnaut who most influenced her style; an atmospheric school of landscape painting peculiar to Austria, known as "". While in Vienna, she befriended Marie Egner and Alfred Zoff, who she later followed to Munich. There, she completed her apprenticeship with him and Adalbert Waagen, a student of Albert Zimmermann. Marie Egner
Marie Egner (25 August 1850, Bad Radkersburg - 31 March 1940, Vienna) was an Austrian painter. Life Egner was born on 25 August 1850 in Bad Radkersburg, Austria. She took her first drawing lessons in Graz with Hermann von Königsbrunn, then went to Düsseldorf from 1872 to 1875, where she studied with Carl Jungheim. In 1882, she went to Vienna to live with her mother, but spent her summers at the art colony in Plankenberg Castle, near Neulengbach, where she took lessons with Emil Jakob Schindler until 1887. A study trip to England followed from 1887 to 1889. Shortly after, her first exhibition was held at the Vienna Künstlerhaus. She also exhibited in Germany and England. Egner exhibited her work at The Woman's Building at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. Along with Tina Blau and Olga Wisinger-Florian she was part of the Austrian ". Johann Fischbach
Johann (Franz) Fischbach (5 April 1797, Grafenegg – 19 June 1871, Munich) was an Austrian painter. Life He was the son of one of Count Breunerschen's stewards. His art studies began at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, where he studied under Joseph Mössmer (1780-1845) and won the Grand Prize for landscape painting in 1821. He moved to Salzburg in 1840 and set up a studio there. He was also instrumental in creating the Salzburg Art Society and a small Academy that numbered Josef Mayburger and Hans Makart's father among its students. In 1851, he built his own villa (Swiss chalet style) in Aigen. It is still known as the ''Fischbachvilla''. After the early death of his son August, who had shown great promise, he became deeply depressed and spent the last decade of his life in Munich, away from anything that might be a sad reminder of happier days.
