Zaza Urushadze
Zaza Urushadze ( ka, ზაზა ურუშაძე; 30 October 1965 — 7 December 2019) was a Georgian film director, screenwriter and producer. Biography Zaza Urushadze was a son of Ramaz Urushadze, a famous Soviet football goalkeeper. He was born on 30 October 1965, in Tbilisi, Georgia. He graduated in 1982-1988 at the directing department of the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgian State University. From 2002-2004 he was the director of the Georgian National Film Centre. Zaza's full-length debut film ''Here Comes the Dawn'' (1998) was very successful and participated in many international film festivals. It was Georgia's official Best Foreign Language Film submission at the 72nd Academy Awards, but did not receive a nomination. This is a list of submissions to the 72nd Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non- English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country. For the 72nd Academy Awards, the Academy invited 75 countries to submit films for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The submission deadline was set on November 1, 1999. Revaz "Rezo" Chkheidze ( ka, რევაზ "რეზო" ჩხეიძე; 8 December 1926 – 3 May 2015) was a Georgian film director, People's Artist of the USSR, best known for his Soviet-era drama films, including his 1964 World War II-themed '' Father of a Soldier''. Biography Born in Kutaisi in the family of the writer Davit Chkheidze (he would be executed during the Great Purge in 1937), Chkheidze studied acting at Tbilisi State Institute of Theatre from 1943 to 1946 and continued his education under Sergei Yutkevich and Mikhail Romm at VGIK in Moscow from 1949 to 1953.
