''Here's Loretta Lynn'' is a compilation album by American country music singer-songwriter Loretta Lynn. It was released on April 22, 1968, by Vocalion Records. Background The album features recordings Lynn made for Zero Records in 1960, prior to signing with Decca Records. The only songs Lynn recorded for Zero Records that are not included on this album are her debut single,"I'm a Honky Tonk Girl", and "Darlin' Don't", which remains unreleased. Lynn would later re-record "The Darkest Day" for inclusion on 1966's ''You Ain't Woman Enough''. She would re-record it once again, along with "My Angel Mother", for 2018's ''Wouldn't It Be Great''. "My Life Story" was retitled "Story of My Life" and re-recorded with updated lyrics for 2004's ''Van Lear Rose''. Loretta Lynn (; April 14, 1932 – October 4, 2022) was an American country music singer and songwriter. In a career spanning six decades, Lynn released multiple gold albums. "I'm a Honky Tonk Girl" is the debut single by American country music artist Loretta Lynn, released in March 1960. The song was among the first to not only be recorded by Lynn, but also to be penned by her. She composed the song while living in Washington State, maintaining her role as a housewife and occasional member of a local country music band. The composition was later recorded in California after Lynn was given money by a local businessman, who was impressed by her singing. United Western Recorders was a two-building recording studio complex in Hollywood that was one of the most successful independent recording studios of the 1960s. The complex merged neighboring studios United Recording Corp. on 6050 Sunset Boulevard and Western Studio on 6000 Sunset Boulevard. In 1984, United Western Recorders was renamed and succeeded by Ocean Way Recording. Starting in 1999, the complex was divided into two establishments: Ocean Way Recording (now United Recording Studios) at 6050 Sunset and Cello Studios (now EastWest Studios) at 6000 Sunset. Zero Records was a record label founded in 1959 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. History In the late 1950’s, Don Grashey met Charlie Chuck Williams (Chuck) in Thunder Bay. The pair later moved to Vancouver. With the financial help of Norm Burley (the majority owner) and Art Phillips, who would later become Mayor of Vancouver, Zero Records was formed. The company's intended market from the beginning was the United States. Grashey would run the business as President, the A&R Department and the publishing company Trilite Music.
