''Here's Berlin'' or ''Hello Berlin, Paris Calling'' (french: Allo Berlin? Ici Paris!, german: Hallo hallo! Hier spricht Berlin!) is a 1932 French-German romantic comedy film directed by Julien Duvivier and starring Josette Day, Germaine Aussey and Wolfgang Klein.Nornes p. 132 It was shot at the Johannisthal Studios in Berlin. Julien Duvivier
Julien Duvivier (; 8 October 1896 – 29 October 1967) was a French film director and screenwriter. He was prominent in French cinema in the years 1930–1960. Amongst his most original films, chiefly notable are ''La Bandera (film), La Bandera'', ''Pépé le Moko'', ''Little World of Don Camillo'', ''Panic (1946 film), Panic (Panique)'', ''Voici le temps des assassins'' and '':fr:Marianne de ma jeunesse, Marianne de ma jeunesse''. Johannisthal Studios
The Johannisthal Studios were film studios located in the Berlin area of Johannisthal. Founded in 1920 on the site of a former airfield, they were a centre of production during the Weimar and Nazi eras. Nearly four hundred films were made at Johannistal during the silent period. Sometimes known as the Jofa Studios, in 1929 they became the base of the newly established German major studio Tobis Film at the beginning of the sound era. After 1945 the studios fell into the Soviet Zone of Germany, and later into the Communist state of East Germany.Bergfelder p.24 The studios were used by the new monopoly film company DEFA. Georges Boulanger (violinist)
George Pantazi (18 April 1893 – 3 June 1958), better known by his stage name Georges Boulanger, was a Romanian violinist, conductor and composer. Biography Georges Boulanger was born in Tulcea, Romania, from a Romani (Gypsy) family with a very long tradition in music. His father was Vasile Pantazi, nicknamed "Boulanger". He was known as one of the typical Romanian virtuosi. He learned to play the violin as a child from his father, who was already the sixth generation musician. At the age of 12, Georges Boulanger got a scholarship to study at the Conservatory in Bucharest. Three years later he was heard by Leopold Auer who took him to Dresden with him and where he studied with him for the next two years. Other students of Auer included Jascha Heifetz, Nathan Milstein, and Mischa Elman.
