Herbert Leupin
Herbert Leupin (20 December 1916, in Beinwil am See – 21 September 1999, in Basel) was a Swiss people, Swiss graphic designer known primarily for his poster art. Life and work From 1931 until 1934, Leupin attended the Kunstgewerbeschule in Basel. From 1951 until 1964, he worked as an advertising consultant for the German cigarette manufacturer Reemtsma. During this time he also created the Milka cow image. Leupin made his name in the 1940s through his use of the magic realism style of images for advertising consumer goods. Beinwil Am See
Beinwil am See is a municipality in the district of Kulm in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland. History There are traces of neolithic, Hallstatt, Roman and Alamanni settlements in or near Beinwil. However, Beinwil am See is first mentioned in 1036 as ''Beinwile''. In 1045 it was mentioned as ''Peinuuilare''. The noble von Beinwil family is first mentioned in 1153. This family was, in succession, vassals to the Lenzburg, Kyburg and Habsburgs before becoming extinct in the mid-14th Century. The family castle has disappeared. A Kunstgewerbeschule (English: ''School of Arts and Crafts'' or S''chool of Applied Arts'') was a type of vocational arts school that existed in German-speaking countries from the mid-19th century. The term Werkkunstschule was also used for these schools. From the 1920s and after World War II, most of them either merged into universities or closed, although some continued until the 1970s. Reemtsma Cigarettenfabriken GmbH is one of the biggest tobacco and cigarette manufacturing companies in Europe and a subsidiary of Imperial Brands. The company's headquarters is in Hamburg, Germany. History Reemtsma was created in 1910 in Erfurt, Germany. In 1918, the production was automated. Milka Cow
Milka is a brand of chocolate confectionery, originally made in Switzerland in 1901 by Suchard. It has then been produced in Lörrach, Germany for the past 100 years. Since 2012 it has been owned by US-based company Mondelez International, when it started following the steps of its predecessor Kraft Foods Inc., which had taken over the brand in 1990. It is sold in bars and a number of novelty shapes for Easter and Christmas. Products with the ''Milka'' brand also include chocolate-covered cookies and biscuits.
