Henry V (TV Film)
"Henry V" is fourth episode of the first series of the British television series ''The Hollow Crown'', based on the play of the same name by William Shakespeare. The episode was produced by Rupert Ryle-Hodges, directed by Thea Sharrock and starred Tom Hiddleston as Henry V of England. It was first broadcast on 21 July 2012 on BBC Two. ''Henry V'' is the fourth play in Shakespeare's tetralogy dealing with the successive reigns of Richard II, Henry IV, and Henry V. ''The Hollow Crown'' is a series of British television film adaptations of William Shakespeare's history plays. The first series is an adaptation of Shakespeare's second historical tetralogy, the Henriad: ''Richard II'', ''Henry IV, Part 1'', '' Henry IV, Part 2'' and ''Henry V'', starring Ben Whishaw, Jeremy Irons and Tom Hiddleston. Siege Of Harfleur
The siege of Harfleur (18 August – 22 September 1415) was conducted by the English army of King Henry V in Normandy, France, during the Hundred Years' War. The defenders of Harfleur surrendered to the English on terms and were treated as prisoners of war. It was the first time that an English army made significant use of gunpowder artillery in the siege of a large urban settlement. The English army was considerably reduced by casualties and an outbreak of dysentery during the siege but marched towards Calais, leaving a garrison behind at the port. The English were intercepted en route and fought the Battle of Agincourt (25 October), inflicting a huge defeat on the French. James Laurenson
James Laurenson (born 17 February 1940) is a New Zealand stage and screen actor. Early life Laurenson was born in Marton, North Island, New Zealand. He was a student at Canterbury University College in Christchurch (now University of Canterbury) where he was directed by Dame Ngaio Marsh, notably in the title role in ''Macbeth'' at the Civic Theatre Christchurch in 1962. He moved to the UK in the mid-1960s and made his film debut in 1969 with a small part in ''Women in Love'', although he also had an uncredited part (as an Oxford rower, playing alongside Graham Chapman) in '' The Magic Christian''. Edward, 2nd Duke of York, ( – 25 October 1415) was an English nobleman, military commander and magnate. He was the eldest son of Edmund of Langley, 1st Duke of York, and a grandson of King Edward III of England. He held significant appointments during the reigns of Richard II, Henry IV, and Henry V, and is also known for his translation of the hunting treatise ''The Master of Game''. He was killed in 1415 at the Battle of Agincourt, whilst commanding the right wing of the English army. Bardolph (Shakespeare Character)
Bardolph is a fictional character who appears in four plays by William Shakespeare. He is a thief who forms part of the entourage of Sir John Falstaff. His grossly inflamed nose and constantly flushed, carbuncle-covered face is a repeated subject for Falstaff's and Prince Hal's comic insults and word-play. Though his role in each play is minor, he often adds comic relief, and helps illustrate the personality change in Henry from Prince to King. In early published versions of ''Henry IV, Part 1'', the character is called Rossill or Sir John Russel. Shakespeare renamed the character to avoid suggestions that he was ridiculing the then-prominent Russell family, which included the Earls of Bedford. Sir Thomas Erpingham (27 June 1428) was an English soldier and administrator who loyally served three generations of the House of Lancaster, including Henry IV and Henry V, and whose military career spanned four decades. After the Lancastrian usurpation of the English throne in 1399, his career in their service was transformed as he rose to national prominence, and through his access to royal patronage he acquired great wealth and influence. Erpingham was born in the English county of Norfolk, and knighted when a young man.
