Henry Stafford (died 1471)
Sir Henry Stafford (c. 1425 – 4 October 1471) was the second son of Humphrey Stafford, 1st Duke of Buckingham and Lady Anne Neville, daughter of Ralph de Neville, 1st Earl of Westmorland, and Lady Joan Beaufort. Henry's elder brother, also named Humphrey, died before their father, and so it was Henry's nephew, also Henry, who became the 2nd Duke of Buckingham. Stafford was the third husband of Margaret Beaufort, Countess of Richmond. The marriage was relatively long and successful and coincided roughly with the minority of Margaret's son, the future Henry VII of England. Both Sir Henry and Lady Margaret were descended from John of Gaunt and were supporters of Henry VI, the head of the House of Lancaster, in the early stages of the Wars of the Roses. However, Stafford later switched his allegiance to the House of York and towards the end of his life contributed to the restoration of Edward IV. Henry Stafford, 2nd Duke Of Buckingham
Henry Stafford, 2nd Duke of Buckingham, KG (4 September 1455 – 2 November 1483) was an English nobleman known as the namesake of Buckingham's rebellion, a failed but significant collection of uprisings in England and parts of Wales against Richard III of England in October 1483. He was executed without trial for his role in the uprisings. Stafford is also one of the primary suspects in the disappearance (and presumed murder) of Richard's nephews, the Princes in the Tower. Life The only son of Humphrey Stafford, Earl of Stafford and Margaret Beaufort, Countess of Stafford, Buckingham became Earl of Stafford in 1458 upon his father's death, and was made a ward of King Edward IV. Henry Stafford, 1st Baron Stafford (18 September 1501 – 30 April 1563) was an English nobleman. After the execution for treason in 1521 and posthumous attainder of his father Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham, with the forfeiture of all the family's estates and titles, he managed to regain some of his family's position and was created Baron Stafford in 1547. Henry Stafford, 2nd Baron Stafford (before 1527 – 1 Jan 1565) was a British peer in the peerage of England and MP. Family life Henry Stafford was the eldest surviving son of Henry Stafford, 1st Baron Stafford and Ursula Pole. He married Elizabeth Davy, daughter of John Davy of Holbeach, Lincolnshire, before 1557. Serving in Parliament Henry Stafford failed twice in 1553 to be returned as knight for Staffordshire for Parliament. According to his father, he should have been returned as he was 'chosen by the whole shire, no man saying the contrary'. He was eventually elected in 1555, this time as a representative for Stafford. Henry Stafford, 1st Earl of Wiltshire (c. 1479 – 6 April 1523) was an English peer. Family Henry Stafford, born c.1479, was the younger of two sons of Henry Stafford, 2nd Duke of Buckingham, and Lady Catherine Woodville, the daughter of Richard Woodville, 1st Earl Rivers, by Jacquetta of Luxembourg, daughter of Pierre de Luxembourg, Count of St. Pol, and was thus a nephew of Elizabeth Woodville and King Edward IV. Henry Valentine Stafford-Jerningham, 9th Baron Stafford DL (2 January 1802 – 30 November 1884), known as Henry Jerningham until 1824 and styled The Honourable Henry Stafford-Jerningham between 1824 and 1851, was a British peer and politician. Background Stafford was the son of George Stafford-Jerningham, 8th Baron Stafford, and Frances Henrietta Sulyarde, daughter of Edward Sulyarde of Haughley Park. His father had succeeded as seventh Baronet of Costessey in 1809. After his mother's death in 1832, his father married Elizabeth Caton, second daughter Richard Caton and Mary Carroll Caton (a daughter of Charles Carroll of Carrollton). Henry Stafford (fl. 1541–1555) was an English politician, the illegitimate son of Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham. He served as the Member of Parliament representing Stafford in 1545, 1547, October 1553 and 1555, but his later career is obscure.
