Henry D'Entremont
Henry Thomas d'Entremont (February 28, 1859 – March 30, 1920) was a merchant and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Yarmouth County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1916 to 1920 as a Liberal member. Early life He was born in Lower East Pubnico, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia, the son of George David d'Entremont and Catherine Murphy. His grandfather was Simon d'Entremont, the first Acadian elected to a legislative assembly in North America. Career He opened a general store in Lower East Pubnico in June 1883; he also shipped mackerel, lobster, halibut and blueberries for sale in the United States. D'Entremont married Sophia LeBlanc. Death He died in office in Lower East Pubnico at the age of 61. Argyle, officially named the Municipality of the District of Argyle, is a district municipality in Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. Statistics Canada classifies the district municipality as a municipal district. The district municipality occupies the eastern portion of the county and is one of three municipal units - the other two being the Town of Yarmouth and the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth. Yarmouth is a provincial electoral district in Nova Scotia, Canada, that elects one member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. It consists of the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth and the town of Yarmouth. From 1867 to 1981, the district included all of Yarmouth County and for most of that time elected two members. Howard William Corning
Howard William Corning (April 17, 1879 – September 29, 1924) was a cattle farmer and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Yarmouth County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1911 to 1916 and from 1920 to 1924 as a Liberal-Conservative member. He was house leader of the party from 1921 until his death in 1924. He was born in Chegoggin, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia, the son of William Corning and Hannah Hibbard. Simon D'Entremont
Simon d'Entremont (October 28, 1788 – September 6, 1886) was a farmer and political figure in Nova Scotia of Acadian descent. He represented Argyle township in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1836 to 1840. D'Entremont and Frederick Armand Robicheau, elected in the same election are believed to be the first Acadians elected to a legislative assembly in North America. (Joseph Winniett, whose mother was Acadian, was the first Acadian to serve in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly in 1761.)
