''Hell on Earth'' (german: Niemandsland, lit=''No Man's Land'') is a 1931 German anti-war film directed by Victor Trivas. In France, The film is also known as ''No Man's Land''. Vladimir Sokoloff
Vladimir Aleksandrovich Sokoloff (russian: Влади́мир Алекса́ндрович Соколо́в; December 26, 1889 – February 15, 1962) was a Russian-American character actor of stage and screen. After studying theatre in Moscow, he began his professional film career in Germany and France during the Silent era, before emigrating to the United States in the 1930s. He appeared in over 100 films and television series, often playing supporting characters of various nationalities and ethnicities. Early life and education Sokoloff was born in Moscow, Russian Empire, to a German Jewish family. He was raised bilingual, speaking both Russian and German. He studied theatre in Moscow, first at the Moscow State University and later at the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts, graduating in 1913. Der Heimliche Aufmarsch
Der heimliche Aufmarsch (English: ''"The secret deployment"'') is a poem by Erich Weinert written in 1929. In 1930, Wladimir Vogel composed music to it, and there is one extant recording of this original melody with Weinert himself providing the vocals. In 1931, Ernst Busch sang a version of the song at the end of the film '' Hell on Earth'' by Victor Trivas. The most famous version is the 1938 remake with a new arrangement by Hanns Eisler, which can be heard at Communist Party rallies from that point forward. In 1957, the song was rewritten to suit the Cold War under the name Der offene Aufmarsch (English: ''"The Open Deployment"''), sung by the National People's Army in the German Democratic Republic. Prosper Désiré "Georges" Péclet (27 July 1897 – 11 January 1974) was a French actor, director, and screenwriter. Career Between 1919 and 1957, Péclet played in ninety-five films (including several short films). He was an assistant director in 1927 and then eventually began directing in 1928. He was a director of ten films in total, the last one being from 1963. He was also the writer of five of these movies and producer of one. Louis Winston Douglas, sometimes spelled Douglass (May 14, 1889, Philadelphia - May 19, 1939, New York City) was an American dancer, choreographer, and music businessman. Douglas toured Ireland with a children's revue in 1903 and then went on tour in Europe with Belle Davis from 1903 to 1908, and appears with her in the 1906 film ''Die schöne Davis mit ihren drei Negern''.
