Undescribed Taxon
In taxonomy, an undescribed taxon is a taxon (for example, a species) that has been discovered, but not yet formally described and named. The various Nomenclature Codes specify the requirements for a new taxon to be validly described and named. Until such a description has been published, the taxon has no formal or official name, although a temporary, informal name is often used. ''Heliamphora heterodoxa'' ( el, heteros = other, ''doxa'' = opinion, belief) is a species of Heliamphora, marsh pitcher plant native to Venezuela and adjacent Guyana. It was first discovered in 1944 on the slopes interlinking Ptari-tepui and Sororopán-tepui, Sororopan-tepui and formally described in 1951. This ''Heliamphora'' is closely related to ''Heliamphora glabra, H. glabra'' and the latter was for a long time considered a form of ''H. heterodoxa''. It is one of four ''Heliamphora'' taxon, taxa taxon description, formally described by Julian A. Steyermark.
