Helen Cooper (literary Scholar)
Elizabeth Helen Cooper, (born 6 February 1947), known as Helen Cooper, is a British literary scholar. From 2004 to 2014, she was Professor of Medieval and Renaissance English at the University of Cambridge, and a fellow of Magdalene College, Cambridge. Early life and education Cooper was born on 6 February 1947 in Nottingham, England. Her parents were Percy Edward Kent, an exploration geologist, and Betty Kent. She was educated at Nottingham Girls' High School, an all-girls independent school. She studied at New Hall, Cambridge, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in 1968: as per tradition, her BA was promoted to a Master of Arts (MA Cantab) degree. She remained at New Hall to undertake postgraduate study, one of her supervisors was Jack A. W. Bennett, and she completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in 1971. Helen Cooper (illustrator)
Helen Sonia Cooper (born 1963 in London) is a British illustrator and an author of children's literature. She grew up in Cumbria, where she practiced literature and piano playing. She currently lives in Oxford. Cooper has twice been awarded the Kate Greenaway Medal from the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), recognising the year's best children's book illustration by a British subject. She won for ''The Baby Who Wouldn't Go To Bed'' in 1996, which she wrote and illustrated. In 1998 she won for ''Pumpkin Soup'', which she also wrote and illustrated. They were consecutive projects for her. Beside winning the two Greenaway Medals (no one has won three), Cooper made the shortlist for ''The Bear Under the Stairs'' (Doubleday, 1993) and ''Tatty Ratty'' (Doubleday, 2001). Helen Cooper (born 13 November 1946) is an Australian-born Canadian politician and administrator. She served as mayor of Kingston, Ontario from 1988 to 1993, and was chair of the Ontario Municipal Board from 1993 to 1996. Early life and education Cooper was born in Australia, and moved to Kingston with her family as a child. She graduated from Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Queen's University in 1968, and worked overseas for a few years in development programs. She met her husband when working as a teacher in northern Tanzania. In 1973, she received a Master of Science degree from the London School of Economics in England. Cooper returned to Kingston after her graduation, and worked part-time as a teacher at Queen's and St. Lawrence College.
