Heim Til Jol

In Norwegian place names, the suffix is often weakened to just ''-um'', ''-eim'', ''-im'', or even just ''-m'', such as in Bærum, Elverum, Modum, Sørum, Bjerkreim, Askim and Sem. The old form has been revived in some names such as Austrheim, Grindheim, Jessheim, and Jotunheimen. Heim Theory
Heim theory, first proposed by German physicist Burkhard Heim publicly in 1957, is an attempt to develop a theory of everything in theoretical physics. The theory claims to bridge some of the disagreements between quantum mechanics and general relativity. The theory has received little attention in the scientific literature and is regarded as being outside mainstream science but has attracted some interest in popular and fringe media. In his book ''"Deep Space Propulsion: A Roadmap to Interstellar Flight"'' aerospace engineer and physicist Kelvin Long, co-founder of the Initiative for Interstellar Studies, describes the theory as an idea "that could represent some element of a future breakthrough in propulsion physics" but states that he has "no opinion for or against" this theory. Development Heim attempted to resolve incompatibilities between quantum theory and general relativity. To meet that goal, he developed a mathematical approach based on quantizing spacetime. Othe ...

Scanning Helium Ion Microscope
A scanning helium ion microscope (SHIM, HeIM or HIM) is an imaging technology based on a scanning helium ion beam. Similar to other focused ion beam techniques, it allows to combine milling and cutting of samples with their observation at sub-nanometer resolution. In terms of imaging, SHIM has several advantages over the traditional scanning electron microscope (SEM). Owing to the very high source brightness, and the short De Broglie wavelength of the helium ions, which is inversely proportional to their momentum, it is possible to obtain qualitative data not achievable with conventional microscopes which use photons or electrons as the emitting source. As the helium ion beam interacts with the sample, it does not suffer from a large excitation volume, and hence provides sharp images with a large depth of field on a wide range of materials. Compared to a SEM, the secondary electron yield is quite high, allowing for imaging with currents as low as 1 femtoamp. The detectors provide ...
