Hegel Society Of America
The Hegel Society of America (HSA) was founded in 1968 at the Wofford Symposium in Spartanburg, South Carolina, United States. Its mission is to promote the study of the philosophy of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, but it never endorses or promotes any particular way of interpreting Hegel. These studies include Hegel's place in the history of philosophy, as well as the relationships of Hegel's writings to social, political, and cultural movements within the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. The HSA claims that Hegel's philosophy remains relevant to contemporary issues and fields of knowledge. HSA members meet every two years for three-day seminars. These meetings feature a program on a theme selected by a democratic vote at the previous meeting, and the proceedings of every meeting since 1982 have been published. Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (; ; 27 August 1770 – 14 November 1831) was a German philosopher. He is one of the most important figures in German idealism and one of the founding figures of modern Western philosophy. His influence extends across the entire range of contemporary philosophical topics, from metaphysical issues in epistemology and ontology, to political philosophy, the philosophy of history, philosophy of art, philosophy of religion, and the history of philosophy. The Hegel Society of Great Britain (HSGB) is an English-speaking forum for scholars and students interested in the writings of the philosopher GWF Hegel (1770–1831). Such scholastic interest may extend to Hegel's predecessors, contemporaries, followers and critics. The HSGB was founded in 1979, has over 200 members, and holds an annual conference. The Internationale Hegel-Vereinigung
The Internationale Hegel-Vereinigung (International Hegel Association) is a non-profit organization, founded in 1962. Its mission is to promote the study of G.W.F. Hegel's philosophy on at least two different fronts: (1) Hegel's system and its parts; and (2) Hegel's philosophical beginnings and history as it leads up to modern theory. To accomplish these tasks the International Hegel Association organizes smaller meetings at regular intervals to discuss different topics of Hegel's philosophy, as well as an International Congress every six years, designing the most comprehensive international participation possible. The Internationale Hegel-Gesellschaft
The Internationale Hegelgesellschaft e.V. (International Hegel Society) claims to be Germany's oldest surviving Hegel Society. It was founded 1953 in Nürnberg by Wilhelm Raimund Beyer (1902-1990). Mr. Beyer's efforts were supported by the City of Nürnberg in its celebration of the facts that Hegel taught in Nürnberg and that Hegel's wife, Marie Tucher, was the daughter of a well-known Nürnberg family. The society currently supports over a thousand members from its Berlin headquarters. The Centre De Recherche Et De Documentation Sur Hegel
The Centre de recherche et de documentation sur Hegel (Research Center for the Writings of Hegel and Marx) was established at the Philosophy Department of the University of Poitiers in 1969. Its founding, under Professor Jacques D’Hondt, was a significant event in the French philosophical field. This center attempted to coordinate the research of an objective, scientific and philosophical nature on the origins and ideas of the theologian Hegel and the atheist Marx. The idea for this Center appeared around a Seminar of Jean Hyppolite, Professor of the College of France, during conversations between Jean Hyppolite and Jacques D’Hondt. Their proposal was supported by George Canguilhem and materialized within a broader intent to decentralize French philosophical research between the College of France, the University of Paris and the University of Poitiers. The Hegel Archives (German: ''Hegel-Archiv'') were founded in 1958 in North Rhine-Westphalia to encourage historical-critical efforts to study the collected works of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel. The North-Rhine/Westphalian Academy of Sciences and the Felix Meiner Publishing House, Hamburg, are publishers of the collected works of Hegel. Since 1968 the Hegel Archives has served as a facility for the faculty of Philosophy, Education and Journalism of the Ruhr University Bochum.
