Shangri-Las-65!
''Shangri-Las-65!'' is the second album by the Shangri-Las. Released in September 1965, it serves as the follow-up album to '' Leader of the Pack'', which was released earlier in the year. The original pressing of the album contains the hit singles " Out in the Streets" and "Give Us Your Blessings". The second pressing includes the hit "I Can Never Go Home Anymore", and excludes the album track "The Dum Dum Ditty". The second pressing was later repackaged and re-released as ''I Can Never Go Home Anymore''. "The Dum Dum Ditty" and "Sophisticated Boom Boom" had been released first as a single by another American female band, the Goodies, also in 1965, but failed to chart. In retrospective reviews, AllMusic called the Shangri-Las version of "Sophisticated Boom Boom" a classic and highlighted its wry humor and "the funky James Brown groove" that permeates the track. Mary Ann Ganser sang the lead vocal on " I'm Blue", which is a cover of the Ikettes' 1961 hit song. Track listi ...

Balance Of Power (album)
''Balance of Power'' is the eleventh studio album by the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) released in 1986. It is the final album by the band to feature co-founder Bev Bevan on drums, as well as the last album to feature a significant contribution from keyboardist Richard Tandy. Overview ''Balance of Power'' was the last studio album by the Electric Light Orchestra before their initial disbanding (the band would later reform in 2001 and again in 2014). By this time Kelly Groucutt had departed and the group was pared down to a trio of Jeff Lynne (who doubled on bass as a result of Groucutt's absence), Richard Tandy and Bev Bevan. Recording for the album began in mid-1984, with a planned release for Spring 1985. The addition of several synthesizer tracks and mixing work by Reinhold Mack to the album caused its release to be pushed back to early 1986. ELO played some live concerts in the UK and Europe (their last for fifteen years), and for one UK show George Harrison performed a ...

Richard Marx (album)
''Richard Marx'' is the debut studio album by singer/songwriter and record producer/arranger, Richard Marx, released in June 1987. Four singles reached the top three of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, including Marx's first number one pop single "Hold On to the Nights" in mid-1988. The album's first single, "Don't Mean Nothing", hit number 1 on ''Billboard''s Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart on July 4, 1987. Development In the early 1980s, Richard Marx had started his music career in Los Angeles as a background singer and songwriter for other artists. Marx was determined to become a solo artist, stating that "I didn't want to give my best songs away. "Should've Known Better", for instance, was written three years ago, and whenever I'd play it for an artist I'd get a real good response. It was the song I could've placed the easiest, but I knew that I should be the one to do it. When the deal with Manhattan Records came through early in '86, I put everything else on hold - I saw this a ...

Heaven (John Legend Song)
"Heaven" is a song by American singer John Legend. It was written by Legend along with label boss Kanye West, Jessyca Wilson and his brother Vaughn Stevens for his second studio album '' Once Again'' (2006). Production was helmed by West, with Legend credited as co-producer. The song samples excerpts from "Heaven Only Knows" (1972) as performed by Monk Higgins. Due to the inclusion of the sample, Milton Bland and Alexandra Louise Brown are also credited as songwriters. The song was released as the album's second single in fall 2006. A moderate commercial success, "Heaven" reached number 26 on US ''Billboard'' Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, but failed to enter the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Released to critical success however, it won Legend his second consecutive Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance at the 49th award ceremony. The song produced two music videos, the first one featuring women posed as various Renaissance era paintings. The second one features more John Legend him ...
