The Heartbroken is a Canadian indie rock band based in Toronto, Ontario. The band consists of Damhnait Doyle, Blake Manning, Stuart Cameron and Peter Fusco. History The Heartbroken came together in 2009, and made their debut in March that year at the East Coast Music Awards. The band members had played together previously in Doyle's band Shaye Shaye was a Canadian pop group, consisting of singer-songwriters Kim Stockwood, Damhnait Doyle and Tara MacLean. "Heartbroken" is the debut single by British record producer T2. It was written by British singer Jodie Aysha, who also provides the vocals. The song spent three weeks at number two on the UK Singles Chart, behind Leona Lewis's "Bleeding Love". "Heartbroken" is the most requested song ever on BBC Radio 1. The song was later rewritten to support boxer Ricky Hatton in his match against Floyd Mayweather. It was also sampled by DJ Khaled and Drake on their 2017 song " To the Max", and Digga D and ArrDee on their 2021 song "Wasted". Background Jodie Aysha wrote "Heartbroken" in 2004, aged just 15, inspired by her sister's break-up with her boyfriend. After meeting T2 later that year, Jodie showed him her lyrics and he recorded them at his apartment in Leeds. Angelina Helen Catherine Cordovano (June 28, 1936 – November 22, 1988), known professionally as Cathy Carr, was an American pop singer. Career She was born in The Bronx. As a child, she appeared on '' The Children's Hour,'' a television show locally aired in New York; sponsored by Horn & Hardart, a cafeteria chain which had locations in New York and Philadelphia. She later became a singer and dancer with the USO and joined big band orchestras such as those of Sammy Kaye and Johnny Dee. In 1953 she signed with Coral Records, but had no hits for them, later switching to Fraternity Records, a small company based in Cincinnati, Ohio, in early 1955. It was for Fraternity that she had her only major hit, "Ivory Tower", which was her third record for Fraternity. She never had another big hit, though in 1959 she had two small successes for Roulette Records.
