Michael Johns (born Michael John Lee; 20 October 1978 – 1 August 2014) was an Australian singer who finished in eighth place on the seventh season of ''American Idol'', in 2008. In 2009, he released a music album, ''Hold Back My Heart,'' which sold 20,000 copies. Johns died on August 1, 2014, at the age of 35 of dilated cardiomyopathy. Early life John Lee was born in Perth, Western Australia on 20 October 1978. As a teenager, he appeared as The Coachman in ''Pinocchio'' at the Regal Theatre and was a choir singer in ''Anything Goes'' at His Majesty's Theatre. He attended Newman College in Perth. In 1997, John Lee moved to the United States on a tennis scholarship and majored in drama at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia, before dropping out after two quarters. A third season and final was announced in August 2010. The first show was broadcast on 21 August 2010. The third series aired on RTÉ One, it was hosted by Gráinne Seoige. This series was produced by Tyrone Productions. Once again prize money of €50,000 was awarded to the eventual winner of the show; who was Daniel Furlong, with Bláthnaid the winning judge. The result also marked the third time a child act won the show, following The Mulkerrin Brothers and Chloe Coyle in the previous two series'. This was the final series. 4Music is a British music television channel owned and operated by Channel Four Television Corporation. The original incarnation was launched on 15 August 2008, and until 29 June 2022, showed a mix of music and entertainment programming. It was a replacement of The Hits television channel. The original version of 4Music was replaced by E4 Extra, a new sister channel and extension of E4, on 29 June 2022.
