Hayward is a town in Sawyer County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,279 at the 2000 census. The town is located near the City of Hayward. The census-designated place of Chief Lake is located in the town. Transportation U.S. Highway 63, Wisconsin Highway 27, Wisconsin Highway 77, and County Highway B are the main routes in the community. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 64.0 square miles (165.8 km2), of which, 57.4 square miles (148.7 km2) of it is land and 6.6 square miles (17.0 km2) of it (10.27%) is water. Hayward is located 71 miles southeast of Superior, 27 miles northeast of Spooner, and 57 miles southwest of Ashland. Haywards is a small hillside suburb in the Hutt Valley near Wellington, New Zealand. It is notable for its large electrical substation, which is the main switching point for the Wellington region, and the home of the North Island converter station for the HVDC Inter-Island, which links the North and South Island electricity networks together. History Haywards railway station was opened on 15 December 1875, along with Belmont railway station. It was closed in 1954 and replaced by Manor Park railway station. Haywards was listed in the 1881 New Zealand census as being part of both Mungaroa Riding and Epuni Riding, with a combined population of 58. The Hayward Gallery is an art gallery within the Southbank Centre in central London, England and part of an area of major arts venues on the South Bank of the River Thames.
