"Hat 2 da Back" is a song by American girl group TLC from their debut studio album, '' Ooooooohhh... On the TLC Tip'' (1992). It was released as the album's fourth and final single. The song contains samples of "Big Ole Butt" by LL Cool J and "What Makes You Happy" by KC and the Sunshine Band. "Hat 2 da Back" reached number 30 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number 14 on '' Billboard''s Hot R&B Singles. Music video The music video is built around a remixed version of the song. The video depicts the group singing the song during a photo shoot and a concert, where a man is watching them and fantasizing about them in tight clothing as opposed to the baggy clothing they favor; ironically this foreshadowed them wearing gradually tighter and more feminine clothing from the ''CrazySexyCool'' era onwards. TLC is an American girl group whose original line-up consisted of Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. Formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1990, the group enjoyed success during the 1990s. Illegal was a short-lived hip hop duo composed of Jamal Phillips (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) and Malik Edwards (Holly Hill, South Carolina) that was signed to Rowdy Records. History The duo, known to be affiliated with the hip-hop collective Hit Squad, made their debut with the album, '' The Untold Truth'', released in 1993, which was a minor success, peaking at No. 119 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and No. 19 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Kris Kross was an American hip hop duo that consisted of Chris "Mac Daddy" Kelly and Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith. Kris Kross was the youngest hip-hop duo to gain success, with gold and platinum albums at 12 and 13 years old.
