Stow-Hasbrouck House
The Stow-Hasbrouck House is a single-family home located at 18600 16 Mile Rd, in Convis Township, Michigan, near Marshall. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. History In 1835, Eli Crouch, likely an investor, purchased this property. In 1836 he sold it to Granville and Catherine Stow, who had just moved to the area from Onondaga County, New York. It is most likely that the house was built by the Stows, probably soon after they arrived. Local lore has it that the stone section of the house was built over the period 1837-41 by Andrew Pettigrew, an itinerant stone mason from New Paltz, New York; the rear ell was likely added a few years later. The Stows sold the house and property in 1846 to David Wood of Fairfield, Ohio. Wood was apparently having mental problems, and in 1859 was declared incompetent. Locust Lawn is a surviving 19th-century farm complex situated on the bank of the Plattekill Creek on New York State Route 32, outside of New Paltz, Ulster County, New York. The centerpiece of Locust Lawn is the Jeffersonian mansion of Colonel Josiah Hasbrouck which remains without modern heating, plumbing and electrical systems. The site was donated to Historic Huguenot Street by Hasbrouck descendant Annette Young in 1958. Jean Hasbrouck House
The Jean Hasbrouck House is a historic house on Historic Huguenot Street in New Paltz, New York. Built in 1721, it is one of the best examples of colonial Dutch architecture in stone in the United States. The house is a National Historic Landmark and is part of the larger Huguenot Street Historic District, also a National Historic Landmark. History of the house The house was built in 1721 by Jean Hasbrouck's son Jacob, and perhaps incorporates elements of a timber-framed home built by Jean Hasbrouck on the same site circa 1678. The Hasbroucks were Huguenots who fled persecution in France and co-founded New Paltz. Their house is considered an excellent example of Hudson Valley Dutch architecture and is well preserved. It received its current designation in 1967. Significant features include a wide center hallway, a substantial attic space, originally used as a garret, and the only original 18th century jambless fireplace found in the houses of Historic Huguenot Street. Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site
Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site, also called Hasbrouck House, is located in Newburgh, New York overlooking the Hudson River. George Washington lived there while he was in command of the Continental Army during the final year of the American Revolutionary War; it had the longest tenure as his headquarters of any place he had used. In 1961 the house was designated a state historic site. It is also the oldest house in the city of Newburgh, and the first property acquired and preserved by any U.S. state for historic reasons. History The first fieldstone farmhouse on the site may have been built in 1725 by Burger Mynderse. The property was sold to Elsie Hasbrouck, and she in turn gave it to her son, Jonathan, who married Catherine (Tryntje) Dubois and they built the existing structure on the original foundation, if any, in 1750.
