Hasan Ibn Sulayman Bughra Khan
Hasan b. Sulayman Bughra Khan ( Middle Turkic: بغرا خان) was an energetic ruler of western part of Karakhanid state, ruling nominally under Ali Arslan Khan, but de facto independent. He was the grandson of Satuk Bughra Khan through his second son Sulayman Khan. He inherited his father's appanages in the west sometime later before 990, becoming the founder of the Hasanid branch of the Karakhanid family. Reign He invaded Samanid domains in 991 on the invitation of disgruntled vassals and governor of Khorasan - Abu'l-Hasan Simjuri. Immediately he destroyed an army sent by Nuh II and captured Isfijab. Fa'iq, the Samanid governor of Samarkand surrendered to Bughra Khan, who then marched toward Bukhara. Nuh fled, and the Karakhanids entered the capital in the late spring of 992, where they managed to capture Abu Ali Damghani, vizier of Nuh II. Transoxiana
Transoxiana or Transoxania (Land beyond the Oxus) is the Latin name for a region and civilization located in lower Central Asia roughly corresponding to modern-day eastern Uzbekistan, western Tajikistan, parts of southern Kazakhstan, parts of Turkmenistan and southern Kyrgyzstan. Geographically, it is the region between the rivers Amu Darya to its south and the Syr Darya to its north. Muhammad Toghan Khan
Muhammad ( ar, مُحَمَّد; 570 – 8 June 632 CE) was an Arab religious, social, and political leader and the founder of Islam. Ali ibn Hasan, also known as Harun Bughra Khan and better known as Ali-Tegin (also spelled Alitigin) was a Karakhanid ruler in Transoxiana from 1020 to 1034 with a brief interruption in 1024/5. Biography Origins He was the son of Hasan ibn Sulayman Bughra Khan (simply called "Bughra Khan" in Persian sources), who was the eponymous ancestor of the eastern branch of the Karakhanid family, known as the "Hasanids", to which Ali-Tegin belonged. Hasan is only known from Persian sources because of his wars with the Iranian Samanids, who used to be the rulers of Transoxiana before the Karakhanids under Nasr Khan annexed their territories in 999. Abd Al-Aziz Ibn Nuh
Abd al-Aziz ibn Nuh (died 10th-century) was amir of the Samanids briefly in 992. He was the son of Nuh I. In 992, the Karakhanids under Bughra Khan invaded the domains of amir Nuh II, and briefly wrested Bukhara from Samanid control. However, during his stay in Bukhara, Bughra Khan fell sick, and in order to ensure that the city remained under Karakhanid control, he installed Nuh's uncle Abd al-Aziz as the Samanid ruler, effectively as a Karakhanid puppet. Ilaq
Ilaq ( ar, إيلاق) was a medieval region in Transoxiana which was located in modern northeastern Uzbekistan, to the east of the Syr Darya and south of Tashkent. The capital of the district was Tunkath. Geography In the medieval period, Ilaq lay along the valley of the Angren River, to the north of the large bend of the Syr Darya near Khujand.
