Alastair Reynolds
Alastair Preston Reynolds (born 13 March 1966) is a Welsh science fiction author. He specialises in hard science fiction and space opera. He spent his early years in Cornwall, moved back to Wales before going to Newcastle University, where he studied physics and astronomy. Afterwards, he earned a PhD in astrophysics from the University of St Andrews. In 1991, he moved to Noordwijk in the Netherlands where he met his wife Josette (who is from France). There, he worked for the European Space Research and Technology Centre (part of the European Space Agency) until 2004 when he left to pursue writing full-time. He returned to Wales in 2008 and lives near Cardiff. Works Reynolds wrote his first four published science fiction short stories while still a graduate student, in 1989–1991; they appeared in 1990–1992, his first sale being to '' Interzone''. This is a list of ''Doctor Who'' audiobooks. The first ''Doctor Who'' audiobook, consisting of readings by Gabriel Woolf of the novelisations of '' The Three Doctors'', ''Carnival of Monsters'', and ''Terror of the Zygons'', was produced by the RNIB in 1978 and was available only to the registered blind through the RNIB and libraries. The first audiobook available to the general public was a Tom Baker reading of a ''State of Decay'' novelisation, released in 1981. From 1995 to 1997, recordings of the novelisations of seven ''Doctor Who'' serials and three sets of original short stories were released by the BBC on cassette. Each of the novelisations was read by the actor who had portrayed the Doctor in the respective serial. The short stories were read by various actors associated with the series. ''The Sea Devils'' is the third serial of the ninth season of the long-running British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in six weekly parts on BBC1 from 26 February to 1 April 1972. Geoffrey Beevers (born 15 January 1941) is a British actor who has appeared in many different stage and screen roles. Career Theatre Beevers has worked extensively at the Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond upon Thames, both as an actor (including the title role in Jules Romain's ''Doctor Knock'', 1994); and as an adaptor/director of George Eliot's novel ''Adam Bede'' (February 1990), for which he won a Time Out Award, and Honoré de Balzac's ''Père Goriot'' (February 1994).
