Harry Wells (VC)
Harry Wells VC (19 September 1888 – 25 September 1915) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Details Wells was 27 years old, and a sergeant in the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Sussex Regiment, British Army during the First World War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC. On 25 September 1915 near Le Rutoire, Loos, France, when the platoon officer had been killed, Sergeant Wells took command and led his men forward to within 15 yards of the German wire. Nearly half the platoon were killed or wounded and the remainder were much shaken but Sergeant Wells rallied them and led them on. Finally, when very few were left, he stood up and urged them forward once again and while doing this he was killed. Harry Wells (rugby League)
Harry James Wells (born 8 May 1932) is an Australian former representative rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. A whose club career was played along the New South Wales coast as well as in Sydney with the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Western Suburbs Magpies, he has since been named among the nation's best players of the 20th century. Club career Born Harry Wills, Wells came from a long line of boxers, with both his father and grandfather fighting under the name "Dealer" Wills. Wells came to Sydney from Wollongong, New South Wales to join South Sydney in 1951. He won a premiership with the club in his debut year, playing on the wing in the 1951 Grand final victory over Manly. He then returned home for a number of seasons in Wollongong from where he made his national and state representative debuts. Harry Ronald Wells (born 29 September 1993) is an English rugby union player for Leicester Tigers in Premiership Rugby, the top division of rugby union. His primary positions are lock and flanker. He has also played for Nottingham and Bedford Blues in the RFU Championship, England's second division. He has won one cap for the national team. He was a Premiership Rugby champion in 2022. Harry Welles Rusk (October 17, 1852 – January 28, 1926) was a U.S. Representative from the third district of Maryland. He was also the president of the Kennard Novelty Company in Baltimore. This was the first company to commercially sell ouija boards in 1890. Rusk was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and attended private school for his primary education. In 1866 Rusk graduated from high school from Baltimore City College. Rusk obtained a law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1872 and was admitted to the bar in 1873.
