Harry Saunders
Henry George 'Harry' Saunders (21 May 1898 – 9 December 1930) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood and coached Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The son of Henry Saunders (1859-1921), and Hannah Saunders (1863-1941), née Guiney, Henry George Saunders was born at Portland, Victoria on 21 May 1898. He married Millicent May "Mollie" Allen (1900-1963), later Mrs. Walter William James Crawford, in 1922. Education He attended Christian Brothers' College, East Melbourne. Football Collingwood (VFL) Saunders was recruited locally to Collingwood and went on to play 11 seasons with the club as a defender, mostly at full-back. He was a member of Collingwood premiership teams in 1917 and 1919 as well as playing in three losing Grand Finals. Harry Saunders (priest)
Harry Patrick Saunders (16 March 191313 May 1967) was Archdeacon of Macclesfield from 1965 until 1967. Saudners was educated at Hanley Castle Grammar School, King's College London, and St Stephen's House and St Catherine's Society, Oxford. He gained an Oxford Master of Arts (MA Oxon) and a Bachelor of Divinity (BD). He was ordained in 1936 and was successively:Chaplain and Lecturer at St Stephen's House, (Vice-Principal, 1938–49); Chaplain of St Edmund Hall, Oxford, 1936–46; Priest in charge of St Peter's, Shrewsbury and an RAF Chaplain, 1939–45; Chaplain of Magdalen College, Oxford, 1946–49; Vicar of St Andrew's, West Bromwich, 1949–51; Vicar of St Mary's, Kingswinford, 1951–56; a Lecturer at Queen's College, Birmingham, 1949–56; a Canon Residentiary of Ely Cathedral and Principal of Ely Theological College, 1956; and Vicar of Holy Trinity, Oswestry, 1957–64. Khazzoom–Brookes Postulate
In the 1980s, the economists Daniel Khazzoom and Leonard Brookes independently put forward ideas about energy consumption and behavior that argue that increased energy efficiency paradoxically tends to lead to increased energy consumption. In 1992, the US economist Harry Saunders dubbed this hypothesis the Khazzoom–Brookes postulate, and showed that it was true under neo-classical growth theory over a wide range of assumptions. This effect is comparable to Jevons paradox. Explanation In short, the postulate states that "energy efficiency improvements that, on the broadest considerations, are economically justified at the microlevel, lead to higher levels of energy consumption at the macrolevel." This idea is a more modern analysis of a phenomenon known as the Jevons Paradox. ''Harry's War'' is an Australian short film. It is written and directed by Richard Frankland produced by John Foss and Richard Franklin and stars David Ngoombujarra. It was broadcast nationally on SBS and ABC TV. ''Harry's War'' is based on Frankland's Uncle, Harry Saunders (brother of Reg Saunders), who fought for Australia in the South Pacific in World War Two, and was killed in 1942.
