Harry Elliott (baseball)
Harry Lewis Elliott (December 30, 1923 – August 9, 2013) was an American professional baseball player who appeared in 92 games in Major League Baseball for the and St. Louis Cardinals. A , outfielder, Elliott threw and batted right-handed. Early life Elliott was born in San Francisco, California. As a youth, his family moved to Watertown, Minnesota. He played piano professionally from the age of 15, playing Big Band music until the mid-1990s. Elliott graduated from Watertown High School in 1942. He was a standout athlete, lettering two years each in football, basketball and baseball and earned All-Conference and All-District honors. Elliott then attended the University of Minnesota where he was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity, earning three varsity letters in both football and baseball. Harry Elliott (English Cricketer)
Harry Elliott (2 November 1891 – 2 February 1976) was an English cricketer who kept wicket for Derbyshire from 1920 to 1947 and for England between 1927 and 1934 and was an international Test umpire. Elliot was born at Scarcliffe, Derbyshire and became a miner. He played cricket for his local club at Scarcliffe and later at Shirebrook where Derbyshire bowler Billy Bestwick was playing. In 1913 he obtained a job as a groom at Wiseton Hall in North Nottinghamshire, the home of Sir Joseph Laycock, where he looked after the cricket ground and played for Laycock's team. When World War I broke out he joined the artillery battery Laycock commanded, the 1/1st Nottinghamshire Royal Horse Artillery, and was sent to Egypt. After the war Archibald White was playing at Wiseton and was so impressed with Elliott that he sought to recruit him for Yorkshire. Harry Elliot
Henry Elliot , (28 June 1920 – 5 July 2009) was a British space scientist, and Emeritus Professor of Physics, at the University of London. Biography Harry Elliot was born at Mealsgate, near Wigton, Cumberland, the son of Thomas, farmer, and Hannah Elizabeth (née Littleton), who died in 1928. He was brought up by two elder sisters. At secondary school Elliot was interested in chemistry and, increasingly, in physics. He attended the Victoria University of Manchester in 1938, where the physics department was headed by Patrick Blackett. He graduated top of his class in the summer of 1941 with the guarantee, after the war was over, of a postgraduate stipend to study for a doctorate. Elliot joined the Royal Air Force and succeeded in entering his first choice of Coastal Command. After appropriate training he was posted to Devon, where Coastal Command was hunting U-boats in the Western Approaches and the Bay of Biscay.
