Harold George Bryant Davenport (January 19, 1866August 9, 1949) was an American film and stage actor who worked in show business from the age of six until his death. After a long and prolific Broadway career, he came to Hollywood in the 1930s, where he often played grandfathers, judges, doctors, and ministers. His roles include Dr. Meade in ''Gone with the Wind'' (1939) and Grandpa in ''Meet Me in St. Louis'' (1944). Bette Davis once called Davenport "without a doubt  . .the greatest character actor of all time." Harry Zephaniah Johnson (6 July 1945 – 3 April 2013), known by the stage name Harry J, was a Jamaican reggae record producer. Biography Born in Westmoreland Parish, Jamaica, Johnson started to play music with the Virtues as a bass player before moving into management of the group.Larkin, Colin (1998) ''The Virgin Encyclopedia of Reggae'', Virgin Books, , p. 139 When the band split up he worked as an insurance salesman. He first appeared as a record producer in 1968, when he launched his own record label, "Harry J", by releasing The Beltones' local hit "No More Heartaches", one of the earliest reggae songs to be recorded. His agreement with Coxsone Dodd allowed him to use Studio One's facilities, where he produced the hit "Cuss Cuss" with singer Lloyd Robinson, which became one of the most covered riddims in Jamaica. Harry Davenport (British Politician)
Harry Tichborne Davenport J.P. (1833 – 19 March 1895), known from 1890 as Harry Tichborne Hinckes, was a British barrister and Conservative Party politician who was elected to the House of Commons for constituencies in his native Staffordshire on two occasions in the 1880s. Early life Davenport was the son of John Davenport of Westwood, Staffordshire, a Justice of the Peace and a Deputy Lieutenant of the county. He was educated at Harrow and at Christ Church, Oxford, and was called to the bar in 1860 at the Inner Temple. He later followed in his father's footsteps and became a magistrate, and in 1889 was appointed as an honorary Commissioner in lunacy. Harry Bromley-Davenport (born 15 March 1950 in London, England) is an English film director and producer as well as at the beginning of his career a screenwriter. He is most popular for the famous horror science-fiction video nasty ''Xtro'' (1983). He left the UK in 1990 and currently resides in Los Angeles. He became an American citizen in 1997. Film career Bromley-Davenport entered the film business in 1967 as an assistant to Nicholas Ray. Following his apprenticeship, Bromley-Davenport made his directorial debut with the little-seen ''Whispers of Fear'' (1976) and co-wrote the screenplay for ''The Haunting of Julia'' (1977), which was adapted from the Peter Straub novel ''Julia'' (1975) and starred Mia Farrow in the title role.
