Harry Butler
William Henry "Harry" Butler (25 March 1930 – 11 December 2015) was an Australian naturalist and environmental consultant, best known as the presenter of the popular ABC television series ''In the Wild'' from 1976 to 1981. He was a household name as he took viewers to remote parts of Australia observing and admiring the natural environment. Harry was a warrior for the environment and biodiversity. He spoke highly of how Indigenous people cared for the land, through his extensive experience growing up with various aboriginal groups. His advocacy led to the establishment of offshore islands as reserves for plants and animals, protected from invasive species. Now his legacy is being remembered with Murdoch University’s Harry Butler Institute. The new research and education facility brings science, business and the community together to address environmental problems. Biography Butler was born on 25 March 1930 in Perth, Western Australia.

Henry John 'Harry' Butler AFC (9 November 1889 – 30 July 1924) was a pioneer Australian aviator, Captain and Chief Fight Instructor in the Royal Flying Corps during World War I. Harry Butler (1887–1965) was a pioneer Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1900s and 1910s. A New South Wales representative, Butler played for South Sydney in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition, as a . Playing career Butler began his career for Souths in the first ever season of the NSWRL competition and played in South Sydney's first ever game as a club when they played against North Sydney at Birchgrove Oval. Butler was a member of Souths first ever premiership winning team defeating Eastern Suburbs 14–12 at the Royal Agricultural Showground. The following year, Butler won his second premiership as a Souths player when South Sydney won the grand final against Balmain by default. Lionel (Harry) Butler (17 December 1923, Dudley – 26 November 1981, London) FRHistS Master of Arts, MA Doctor of Philosophy, DPhil was an academic and Principal (academia), Principal of Royal Holloway College, London, Royal Holloway College, University of London, (RHC) from 1973 until his death in 1981. Education and war service Butler was educated at Former secondary schools in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley, Dudley Boys Grammar School. From 1941-43 he did war service with the Royal Air Force (RAF). He then attended Magdalen College, Oxford, where he was an exhibitioner obtaining First Class Honours in Modern History in 1945.
