Harold Morris (composer)
Harold Morris (March 17, 1890 – May 6, 1964) was an American pianist, composer and educator. Morris was born in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1910 and received his master's degree from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in 1922. He married Cosby Dansby, August 20, 1914; the couple had one daughter. Morris moved from his native San Antonio, Texas to New York in 1916. Performances and compositions Morris toured extensively as a recitalist and soloist and his compositions were performed frequently during his lifetime. He made his New York concert debut in recital in January 1921 at Aeolian Hall, with a program of Brahms, Busoni, Chopin, Godowsky, Cyril Scott and Charles T. Griffes. On November 21, 1931, Morris was the piano soloist for a performance of his Piano Concerto with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. Sir Harold Spencer Morris MBE (21 December 1876 – 11 November 1967) was an English barrister, judge and National Liberal MP. Family and education Harold Morris was born in Highbury, London, the son of Sir Malcolm Morris, KCVO, the eminent surgeon and dermatologist. He was educated at Clifton College and Magdalen College, Oxford. Morris married Olga Teichman of Chislehurst. Harold Arthur Morris
Harold Arthur Morris (1884–1977) was the fifth person to be awarded the Freedom of the City of Kimberley, South Africa, an honour conferred in 1967 in recognition of outstanding services to the City and the Northern Cape. Morris was born in Rondebosch, Cape Town, on 4 May 1884 and died in Kimberley aged 93 on 3 June 1977. Early life and education H.A. Morris was the second of three sons of the Revd Henry Elliott Morris, who was the head of the Diocesan College Preparatory School and afterwards an Honorary Canon of St. George's Cathedral, Cape Town. The three boys grew up with their parents at Feldhausen ('The Grove') in Claremont and at Bishops (Diocesan College).
