Hare Ribbin'
''Hare Ribbin is a 1944 animated short film in the ''Merrie Melodies'' series, directed by Robert Clampett and featuring Bugs Bunny. The plot features Bugs' conflict with a red-haired hound dog, whom the rabbit sets out to evade and make a fool of using one-liners, reverse psychology, disguises and other tricks. It was released in theaters by Warner Bros. on June 24, 1944. The title is a pun on "hair ribbon". It is also the first Warner Bros. cartoon to include Bugs' head in the opening title sequence. Plot The short opens with a dog with a Russian accent (a la Bert Gordon's "Mad Russian") hunting for a rabbit by sniffing a trail. He happens upon Bugs who begins to torment the dog, after the dog sniffs Bugs' armpit and makes the foghorn noise used in radio commercials for Lifebuoy (soap) to warn against "B.O." (body odor). Bob Clampett
Robert Emerson Clampett Sr. (May 8, 1913 – May 2, 1984) was an American animator, director, producer and puppeteer. He was best known for his work on the '' Looney Tunes'' animated series from Warner Bros. as well as the television shows ''Time for Beany'' and ''Beany and Cecil''. He was born and raised not far from Hollywood and, early in life, showed an interest in animation and puppetry. After leaving high school a few months shy of graduating in 1931, he joined the team at Harman-Ising Productions and began working on the studio's newest short subjects, ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies''. Clampett was promoted to a directorial position in 1937. During his 15 years at the studio, he directed 84 cartoons later deemed classic, and designed some of the studio's most famous characters, including Porky Pig, Daffy Duck and Tweety. ''Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips'' is a 1944 ''Merrie Melodies'' cartoon directed by Friz Freleng. The cartoon, released on April 22, 1944, features Bugs Bunny. The film depicts Bugs fighting against the Imperial Japanese Army in the Pacific War. The film is considered controversial for caricaturing the Japanese enemy, and expressing anti-Japanese sentiment. Plot Somewhere in the Pacific, Bugs is floating in a box, singing to himself, when "the island that inevitably turns up in this kind of picture" turns up. ''The Golden Age of Looney Tunes'' is a collection of LaserDiscs released by MGM/UA Home Video in the 1990s. There were five sets made, featuring a number of discs, and each disc side represented a different theme, being made up of seven cartoons per side. The first volume was also released on VHS, with each tape representing one disc side. Like many other ''Looney Tunes'' home video releases by MGM/UA Home Video, Volumes 1-4 used faded 35 mm Associated Artists Productions (a.a.p.) television prints as MGM/UA and Turner Entertainment, owners of the rights to the shorts, at the time had no access to Warner Bros.' negatives. ''The Hep Cat'' is a 1942 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon directed by Bob Clampett, written by Warren Foster, animated primarily by Robert McKimson, and set to a musical score composed by Carl W. Stalling. ''The Bob Clampett Show'' is an animated anthology television series which ran from 2000 to 2001. The show features animated theatrical shorts from the Warner Bros. library that were animated or directed by Bob Clampett, as well as a selection of shorts from the ''Beany and Cecil'' animated television series. A lackadaisical hound dog, Willoughby is characterized by his below-average intelligence and overall gullibility.
