''Happiness and All the Other Things'' is Cross Canadian Ragweed's fifth and final studio album. It was released on August 31, 2009. The album includes twelve new studio tracks and three live tracks, including a cover of Willie Nelson's "Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground", "Soul Agent" from the band's 2007 album Mission California, and a cover of Kevin Welch's "Train To Birmingham." ''Happiness and All the Other Things'' is released in commemoration of the band's 15th Anniversary. It is also officially dedicated to the late Randall "Poodie" Locke (Willie Nelson's long-time stage manager). The album cover has a page dedicating the album to him with the words: ''"This album is dedicated to the most selfless, giving person that we've ever known. Cross Canadian Ragweed
Cross Canadian Ragweed was an American rock band formed in Yukon, Oklahoma in 1994. The band consisted of Cody Canada (lead guitar/vocals), Grady Cross (guitar), Randy Ragsdale (drums), and Jeremy Plato (bass guitar). The group released five studio albums and three live albums from 1994 until 2010. The band was at the forefront of the rise of the red dirt music scene in Oklahoma and the Texas Music scene. After almost 15 years together, the group disbanded in 2010. Formation Cross Canadian Ragweed started when Randy Ragsdale and original bass guitar player Matt Weidemann, who had been playing in local bands together, met Cody Canada and Grady Cross who had also been playing together. Warren Zevon
Warren William Zevon (; January 24, 1947 – September 7, 2003) was an American rock singer, songwriter, and musician. Zevon's most famous compositions include "Werewolves of London", "Lawyers, Guns and Money", and " Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner". All three songs are featured on his third album, ''Excitable Boy'' (1978), the title track of which is also well-known. He also wrote major hits that were recorded by other artists, including "Poor Poor Pitiful Me", "Accidentally Like a Martyr", "Mohammed's Radio", " Carmelita", and "Hasten Down the Wind". Carmelita (song)
"Carmelita" is a country rock song written by Warren Zevon. The song was originally recorded by Canadian singer Murray McLauchlan on his self-titled album of 1972. Zevon himself recorded it four years later, in 1976, on his self titled album. Linda Ronstadt recorded a well known version in 1977, and various covers have followed. These include a folk version by punk rocker GG Allin - a version rumored to feature Linda Ronstadt herself (under the soubriquet 'The Razor') on backing vocals - and a later rendition by the folk-punk group Lost Dog Street Band. Brandon Dean Jenkins (June 7, 1969 – March 2, 2018) was an American singer-songwriter and philanthropist. He was part of the Red Dirt music genre. Jenkins performed in the Texas and Oklahoma regions, and he toured Europe on several occasions. He often played 150 shows per year and shared the stage with Sunny Sweeney, Zane Williams, Cory Morrow, Deana Carter, Pat Green, Willie Nelson, The Mavericks, and Kevin Welch. One of Jenkins' notable songs, "Refinery Blues," was a biographical ballad about growing up near the Sand Springs Line, an area where oil refineries abound near the Arkansas River tributary of the Mississippi River. Cody Jay Canada (born May 25, 1976) is an American rock/alt-country musician who currently is the lead singer and lead guitarist of the rock band The Departed since 2010. From 1994 to 2010, Canada was the lead singer of rock/alt country band Cross Canadian Ragweed. Early life Canada was born in Pampa, TX in 1976. Kevin Stephen Welch (August 17, 1955) is an American country music artist. He has charted five singles on the '' Billboard'' Hot Country Songs charts and released eight studio albums. He is also one of the cofounders of the Dead Reckoning Records label, which he founded with fellow musicians Kieran Kane, Tammy Rogers, Mike Henderson, and Harry Stinson (musician), Harry Stinson. ''Mission California'' is Cross Canadian Ragweed's fourth studio album. It was released on October 2, 2007. The band spent 25 days in the studio; the first 5 cutting 15 tracks, the next 20 polishing each. It was recorded in San Diego, California. Lee Ann Womack laid down background vocals on 4 of the tracks to include the Chris Knight cover "Cry Lonely." Overview The first single from ''Mission California'' was "I Believe You," which is a Todd Snider cover. The single charted as high as #4 on the Texas Music Chart. According to iTunes, the most popular and downloaded song was the song "In Oklahoma". Also bassist Jeremy Plato took lead vocals for the first time on the Scott Evans penned song "Soul Agent." Mike McClure (born July 6, 1971) is an American singer, songwriter, and producer from Tecumseh, Oklahoma. He is currently the frontman for the Mike McClure Band. McClure is a founding member of The Great Divide, and was a member until he and the band parted ways in 2002. The Mike McClure Band consists of McClure (guitar, vocals), and Caleb Shirtum (bass).
