Haplogroup I-M438
Haplogroup I-M438, also known as I2 (ISOGG 2019), is a human DNA Y-chromosome haplogroup, a subclade of haplogroup I-M170. Haplogroup I-M438 originated some time around 26,000–31,000 BCE. It originated in Europe and developed into several main subgroups: I2-M438*, I2a-L460, I2b-L415 and I2c-L596. The haplogroup can be found all over Europe and reaches its maximum frequency in the Dinaric Alps (Balkans) via founder effect, related to the migrations of the Early Slavs to the Balkan peninsula. The oldest example so far found is that of Hohle Fels, Hohle Fels (49) from Germany, being at least 14,200 years old. Origin and prehistoric presence Haplogroup I2a was the most frequent Y-DNA among Mesolithic Western Hunter-Gatherer, Western European hunter-gatherers (WHG) belonging to Villabruna Cluster. Haplogroup I-M170 (Y-DNA)
Haplogroup I (M170) is a Human Y-chromosome DNA haplogroup, Y-chromosome DNA haplogroup. It is a subgroup of haplogroup IJ (Y-DNA), haplogroup IJ, which itself is a derivative of the Haplogroup IJK (Y-DNA), haplogroup IJK. Subclades Haplogroup I-M253, I1 and Haplogroup I-M438, I2 can be found in most present-day European populations, with peaks in some Northern European and Southeastern European countries. Haplogroup I most likely arose in Europe, with it so far found in Palaeolithic sites throughout Europe, but not outside it. It diverged from common ancestor IJ* about 43,000 years ago. Early evidence for haplogroup J has been found in the Caucasus and Iran. In addition, living examples of the precursor Haplogroup IJ* have been found only in Iran, among the Mazandarani people, Mazandarani and ethnic Persians from Fars province, Fars. Grotte Du Bichon
Grotte du Bichon is a karstic cave in the Swiss Jura, overlooking the river Doubs at an elevation of 846 m, some 5 km north of La Chaux-de-Fonds. It is the site of the discovery of the skeleton of a hunter-gatherer of the Azilian (late Upper Paleolithic to early Mesolithic), dubbed "Bichon man" (''homme de Bichon''), a young male about 20 to 23 years old, carbon dated to 13,770–13,560 years ago ( 95% CI). The skeleton was discovered in 1956, about 15 m from the cave entrance, intermingled with the bones of a female brown bear, nine flint arrowheads and traces of charcoal. In 1991, flint chips were found embedded in the bear's third vertebra, without indication of healing, suggesting the interpretation that the bear was wounded by arrows, retreated into the cave, and was pursued by the hunter, who made a fire to fumigate the bear from the cave, but was killed by the dying animal.
