Hang Hau Station
Hang Hau () is an MTR List of MTR stations, station of , located at Pui Shing Road, Hang Hau, Tseung Kwan O, in the New Territories of Hong Kong. It was the easternmost station in the MTR railway system, until LOHAS Park station opened on 26 July 2009. It was named after Hang Hau Village, which is about a 10-minute walk from the station. Residence Oasis, a private residential estate, and its accompanied shopping centre, the Lane, are situated above the station. History The HK$1.3-billion contract to construct the station was awarded to Dragages et Travaux Publics, the Hong Kong subsidiary of Bouygues, in 1999. The station opened on 18 August 2002. Hang Hau
Hang Hau () is a residential area in Tseung Kwan O, Sai Kung District, Sai Kung, New Territories, Hong Kong. It is located at the eastern edge of the Tseung Kwan O New Town. Most of the land was Land reclamation in Hong Kong, reclaimed from Hang Hau Village and Shui Bin Village (). History The earliest history referring to Hang Hau was in the 19th century. It was an agricultural and fishing village. Hang Hau got its name from a large water channel near Mang Kung Uk () that led to the sea. In days gone by, Hang Hau was on the sea front, facing Junk Bay. Many of the village names in Hang Hau reflect this – Shui Bin Village () means ''Waterside Village'', for example. On 2 October 1957, Hang Hau Rural Committee was established. Tseung Kwan O Line
The Tseung Kwan O line is one of the eleven lines of the MTR system in Hong Kong, indicated by the colour purple. It is currently long, taking 15 minutes to travel throughout the entire line. The line runs from North Point on the Hong Kong Island to the new town of Tseung Kwan O. It bifurcates east of Tseung Kwan O station into two branches, one northward to Po Lam and one southward to LOHAS Park. The Tseung Kwan O Depot at LOHAS Park is responsible for the maintenance of the line's rolling stock. During the morning peak period, the Tseung Kwan O line uses 15 trains to maintain a frequency of 2.5 minutes between Tseung Kwan O and North Point. Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground (), located in Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong, is a multi-purpose sports ground and home of Hong Kong Premier League club Eastern. A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). Tseung Kwan O
Tseung Kwan O New Town is one of the nine new towns in Hong Kong, built mainly on reclaimed land in the northern half of Junk Bay (known as Tseung Kwan O in Chinese/Cantonese language) in southeastern New Territories, after which it is named. The town/land area is usually known simply as Tseung Kwan O. Development of the new town was approved in 1982, with the initial population intake occurring in 1988.
