Hammel Municipality
Until 1 January 2007 Hammel municipality was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Aarhus County in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 144 km2, and had a total population of 10.830 (2005). Its last mayor was Ole Brøkner, a member of the Conservative People's Party (''Det Konservative Folkeparti'') political party. The main town and site of its municipal council was the town of Hammel. Hammel And Millgrove, Ohio
Hammel and Millgrove are extinct towns in western Warren County, Ohio, United States. They are located along the Little Miami River, about 2 miles (3 km) south of Fort Ancient and 1 mile (1½ km) north of Roachester at the Strout Road crossing of the river. Hammel lies on the eastern shore of the river, in southwestern Washington Township, and Millgrove lies on the western shore of the river, in northeastern Salem Township. Hammel had its start in the 1840s when the railroad was extended to that point. The community was named after its founder. Hammel is a town in Taylor County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 735 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated community of Murat is located in the town. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 35.7 square miles (92.5 km2), of which, 35.5 square miles (91.9 km2) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.6 km2) of it (0.70%) is water. Geologists believe the last glacier to advance into this area stopped its advance at a line running through northern Hammel, just south of Lake Isadore, then retreated. Hammel Madden Deroche
Hammel Madden Deroche, (August 27, 1840 – March 10, 1916) was an Ontario (Canada) lawyer and political figure. He represented Addington in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Liberal member from 1871 to 1883. He was born in Newburgh in Upper Canada in 1840, the son of Pascal Deroche, and graduated from the University of Toronto in 1868. During that time, he served with the Queen's Own Rifles and fought against the Fenians at the Battle of Ridgeway. He taught school at Newburgh and Napanee. He also served as inspector of schools for Napanee. Deroche went on to study law, articling with James Bethune, and was called to the bar in 1874. He practiced law in partnership with Judge Madden. In 1872, he married Sarah Ann Christian Pile. He was named Queen's Counsel in 1890. In 1899, Deroche was appointed crown attorney for the county. Hammel, Green and Abrahamson (HGA) is an architecture, engineering, and planning firm that originated in Minnesota. It was founded in 1953 by Minnesotans Dick Hammel and Curt Green (Bruce Abrahamson joined in shortly thereafter). Hammels is an area within Rockaway Beach on the Rockaway Peninsula in the New York City borough of Queens. It is located west of Arverne and east of Seaside, and is centered on Beach 84th Street. Its main thoroughfare is Beach Channel Drive. The New York City Subway's travels through the neighborhood on the IND Rockaway Line. The Hammel Houses, a public housing project built in 1954, is located in the neighborhood. History Hammels was named for a local landowner, Louis Hammel (1836-1904).
