Haji's Kitchen
Haji's Kitchen, sometimes shortened to just Haji, is an American heavy metal band from Lewisville, Texas. Formed in 1992, the band members themselves uncertain, they take influences from early heavy metal and modern progressive rock. Biography Early history and breakthrough The first "known" incarnation of Haji's Kitchen was formed in 1992/1993 by founding members Eddie Head, Brett Stine, Derek Blakley, and Clint Barlow (now with Vanilla Ice). Though there were earlier incarnations of the band, their history has been tracked back to the point when they first played live, as stated by Blakley on the band's MySpace.Derek Blakley. Lewisville, Texas
Lewisville ( ) is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, predominantly within Denton County with a small part lying within Dallas County. As a suburban community within the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, the 2020 census tabulated a population of 111,822. Originally called Holford's Prairie, Lewisville dates back to the early 1840s. ''Sucker Punch'' is the second studio album by the band Haji's Kitchen, released in 2001. It is the band's first and only album with former vocalist Vince Mullins. There were three planned songs to make it on the album, which two of them were featured in ''Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan.'' These songs being "Day after Day", "Lost", and "Notch". They ended up being featured on Haji's third and final album, ''Twenty Twelve''. ''Haji's Kitchen'' is the first album by the American band of the same name, released in 1995 under Shrapnel Records. Reception While the album was well received by critics and sold well, 5000 copies total, there was some minor controversy surrounding the decision by Shrapnel Records Shrapnel Records is an American record label founded in 1980 by record producer Mike Varney. History Guitarist Marty Friedman (formerly of Megadeth and Cacophony), one of the label's most successful artists, first appeared on the album ''Unsu ..., the band's label, to not issue more copies after the limited run of 5000 were sold. This resulted in the band requesting to be dropped from the label, and voiding their three-record deal. This was a welcome change for the band, who hadn't received any royalty checks from the label. Clint Barlow
Trees is an American live music venue opened in 1990 in the Deep Ellum district of downtown Dallas, Texas. The venue has hosted international touring musical acts such as Nirvana, Snoop Dogg, The Flaming Lips, Death Grips, Daughter, The Wailers, Nick Jonas, and Run the Jewels. It has received numerous accolades from the '' Dallas Observer''. Trees first opened its doors as a venue in May 1990. Named for its trunk-like support beams, Trees hosted bands including Nirvana, Radiohead, Mazzy Star, and The Afghan Whigs during its initial run as a venue before the club closed in May 2005. It was reopened on August 14, 2009, by Clint Barlow, former drummer for Vanilla Ice, and spouse Whitney Barlow. Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan
is a fictional character in the ''Dragon Ball'' media franchise. Two different versions of the character exist: the original Broly, a major villain created by anime screenwriter Takao Koyama who appeared in a trilogy of 1990s ''Dragon Ball Z'' anime films, '' Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan'' (1993), '' Broly – Second Coming'' (1994), and '' Bio-Broly'' (1994), followed by a newer and reworked version of the character by series creator Akira Toriyama that debuted in the film '' Dragon Ball Super: Broly'' (2018), where he initially served as one of the main antagonists, then eventually a supporting character in his later appearances. ''Dragon Ball Z'' is a Japanese anime television series produced by Toei Animation. Progressive Metal
Progressive metal (sometimes shortened to prog metal) is a broad :Fusion music genres, fusion music genre melding heavy metal music, heavy metal and progressive rock, combining the loud "aggression" and amplified electric guitar, guitar-driven sound of the former with the more experimental, cerebral or "pseudo-classical" compositions of the latter. Thought Chamber is an American progressive metal supergroup formed in 2006. The band was formed by guitarist Michael Harris and vocalist Ted Leonard of Enchant. The band's first full-length album, "Angular Perceptions" was released in 2007 on progressive label InsideOut and received critical acclaim, including Honorable Mention from drum legend Mike Portnoy in his Top 10 Albums of 2007.
