''Hail to England'' is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Manowar, released in 1984 on Music for Nations. Recording and reception The album title is a tribute to the country that the American band members met and formed the band in, and in particular the predominantly British NWOBHM that had emerged in the early 1980s. However, the album's cover actually features the flag of the United Kingdom, and not the flag of England. The album was reported to have been recorded in its entirety in only six days. The album peaked at No. 83 on the UK album charts. In 2017, ''Rolling Stone'' ranked ''Hail to England'' as 87th on their list of 'The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time' and ''Loudwire'' ranked it as the 17th best power metal album of all time. Manowar
Manowar is an American heavy metal band from Auburn, New York. Formed in 1980, the group is known for lyrics based on fantasy (particularly sword and sorcery) and mythology (particularly Norse mythology and Greco-Roman mythology), as well as numerous songs celebrating the genre and its core audience. The band is also known for a loud and emphatic sound. In an interview for MTV in February 2007, bassist Joey DeMaio lamented that "these days, there's a real lack of big, epic metal that is drenched with crushing guitars and choirs and orchestras... so it's nice to be one of the few bands that's actually doing that". Ross The Boss
Ross Friedman (born January 3, 1954), also known as Ross the Boss, is a guitarist, known as a founding member of both the punk band the Dictators, and the heavy metal band Manowar. History Friedman was born in the Bronx, New York, and formed the punk rock band the Dictators with Andy Shernoff in New Paltz, New York, in 1973. Prior to this, Friedman had played in a local band, Total Crudd. After recording three albums with the Dictators, Friedman went to France and worked for one year in Fabienne Shine's band Shakin' Street. On Black Sabbath's '' Heaven and Hell'' tour in 1980 (on which Shakin' Street were the support act), Friedman was introduced to bass player Joey DeMaio by Ronnie James Dio. Pagan Metal
Pagan metal is a genre of heavy metal music which fuses extreme metal with " the pre-Christian traditions of a specific culture or region" through thematic concept, rustic melodies, unusual instruments or archaic languages, Wiederhorn 2009, p. 62. usually referring to folk metal or black metal. Power Symphony
Power Symphony was an Italian heavy metal band from Milan, Italy. The band formed in the beginning of the 1990s. The band released two full-length albums and one EP. Although no official statement has been made to the public as to the disbanding of the group, lack of activity seems to point in that direction. ''The Spectral Sorrows'' is the third studio album by the Swedish death metal band, Edge of Sanity, recorded by Börje Forsberg in July–August 1993 and released by Black Mark Production in 1993.
