HSBC Women's World Match Play Championship
The HSBC Women's World Match Play Championship was an LPGA Tour golf tournament that was played from 2005 through 2007. It was first played from June 30 to July 3, 2005 at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, New Jersey. In 2007 the event moved to the Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle, New York. In 2008, HSBC discontinued the event and began sponsoring a new event in Singapore: the HSBC Women's Champions, a stroke play event. The title sponsor, HSBC, is a large banking group based in London, England. Selection process In 2007 the 64-woman field was selected as follows: # The top-30 players on Rolex Rankings List through the U.S. Women's Open (July 2, 2007) who commit to play in the event. The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) is an American organization for female golfers. The organization is headquartered at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida, and is best known for running the LPGA Tour, a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female professional golfers from around the world. Seon Hwa Lee
Lee Seon-hwa (Korean 이선화) (born 10 February 1986) is a South Korean professional golfer now playing on the United States LPGA Tour. Born in Cheonan, South Korea, Lee began playing golf at age 4 and turned professional at age 14, the youngest female to ever turn professional in Korea. She recorded three wins on the LPGA of Korea Tour between 2001 and 2006. She played on the Futures Tour in 2004 and 2005 before joining the LPGA Tour in 2006. She won her first LPGA tournament in June 2006 at the ShopRite LPGA Classic. In 2006, Lee won the LPGA Rookie of the Year award. Meena Lee
Meena Lee (; born 25 December 1981) is a South Korean professional golfer who plays on the United States-based LPGA Tour. Lee was born in Jeonju, South Korea. She took up golf at the age of fourteen, which is unusually late for a future professional golfer, but just a few years later, in 2000, she became the Korean Amateur Champion. She turned professional in 2002, one year before graduating from Yong-In University. She won three events on the LPGA of Korea Tour in her rookie season of 2002 and topped the money list. Marisa Isabel Baena (born 1 June 1977) is a Colombian golfer who plays on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour. Baena was born in Pereira, Colombia, Pereira, Colombia. She started playing golf at the age of six. Juli Inkster (born Juli Simpson; June 24, 1960) is an American professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour.
