Günter Preuß
Günter Preuß (born 10 November 1936 in Duisburg) is a former German football player and manager who was active for MSV Duisburg for many years. He played more than 450 times for his club, of which 77 were happening in the newly founded premier league (Bundesliga). He was team captain from 1961 to 1966. In 1963, he and his teammates qualified for the inaugural season of the German Bundesliga. One year later, the team he led as the captain became runner-up at the end of the first Bundesliga season. Youth and Oberliga West (1948−1963) Preuß grew up in Meiderich which is a quarter of Duisburg and began playing football shortly after the end of the Second World War. He started playing on the street and football soon became his most important occupation. In 1948, he entered the youth team of Meidericher SV (in 1967 renamed as ''MSV Duisburg''). A ''directeur sportif'' (French for sporting director, although the original French term is often used in English-language media; plural ''directeurs sportifs'') is a person directing a cycling team during a road bicycle racing event. It is seen as the equivalent to a field manager in baseball, or a head coach in football. At professional level, a directeur sportif follows the team in a car and communicates with riders, personnel and race officials by radio. The directeur sportif warns of obstacles or challenging terrain, updates the team on the situation in the race, and provides mechanical help. The car carrying the directeur sportif also usually carries a bicycle mechanic with spare bikes, wheels and parts. It also carries spare water bottles, food and medical equipment. Sepp Herberger
Josef "Sepp" Herberger (28 March 1897 – 28 April 1977) was a German football player and manager. He is most famous for being the manager of the West German national team that won the 1954 FIFA World Cup final, a match later dubbed '' The Miracle of Bern'', defeating the overwhelming favourites from Hungary. Previously he had also coached the Breslau Eleven, one of the greatest teams in German football history. Early life and career Born in Mannheim, Herberger grew up in a poor, Catholic family of farmers, which moved to Mannheim in order to work in the local Saint-Gobain glass factory. He later played three times for the German football team between 1921 and 1925 before becoming assistant to Otto Nerz in 1932. Herberger succeeded him as national coach after Germany's uninspired loss to Norway in quarter finals at the 1936 Olympics.
