Göteborg HC
Göteborg Hockey Club, abbreviated as Göteborg HC or GHC, are an ice hockey club in Angered, a borough of Gothenburg ( sv, Göteborg) in southwestern Sweden. They played in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL), the top Swedish women's hockey league, during 2017 to November 2022. In early November 2022, the club withdrew from the SDHL. History Göteborg HC was founded in 2014 and its representative team earned promotion to the SDHL in 2017. The team finished the regular season in last place during each of the five seasons they completed in the SDHL but they managed to avoid relegation each time. The club earned its first win in the SDHL in November 2017, with a 4–2 victory over SDE Hockey. In October 2020, goaltender Frida Axell became the first Göteborg HC player to earn a call-up to the senior Swedish national team. Angered
Angered ( ) is a borough of Gothenburg Municipality in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. Angered is the biggest Million Programme area in Gothenburg, and one of the biggest in the country, with 60,000 inhabitants. Transportation Angered is served by bus lines 40 and 71-77 and a number of tram lines. The tram service terminates here, with the turning slope running around the bus terminal. The tram lines serving Angered are 4, 8 and 9 (towards Mölndal, Frölunda and Kungssten). Initially, the tram line was due to run past Angered Centrum, terminating at Rannebergen, not far from the centre. This project was abandoned while under construction, and bus line 76 runs from Angered Centrum to Rannebergen instead. However, there is space for trams inside the hill, just as at Hammarkullen. 2020–21 SDHL Season
The 2020–21 SDHL season was the 14th season of the Swedish Women's Hockey League ( sv, Svenska damhockeyligan; SDHL). The season began on 12 September 2020 and concluded on 26 February 2021. All ten teams were able to complete a full 36-game regular season. The season marked the return to play for the SDHL after the 2019–20 season championship finals were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Sweden. Hanna Thuvik
Hanna Thuvik (born 17 May 2002) is a Swedish ice hockey forward, currently playing for Brynäs IF in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (, SDHL). Career Thuvik grew up in Skärhamn, playing for the junior boys' teams of Rönnängs IK, eight kilometres away in a neighbouring town. In 2016, at the age of 14, she was offered a contract with senior-club Trollhättans HC in Damtvåan. She scored 40 points in 8 games as the team earned promotion to Damettan. Ahead of the 2018–19 season, she signed with top-flight club Göteborg HC. She scored 10 points in 36 games in her debut SDHL season, as the club finished in last but were able to keep their top-flight place after a successful relegation playoff. She was named an assistant captain for Göteborg for the 2019–20 season, where she almost doubled her point production, scoring 17 points in 32 games. The 2019-20 SDHL Season was the 13th season of the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL). The season began in September 2019 and ended in February 2020. The playoffs began a week after the end of the regular season, but the finals were cancelled due to the 2019–20 coronavirus outbreak. HV71 were regular season champions, and due to face Luleå HF/MSSK in the finals. Göteborg HC and Modo Hockey finished at the bottom of the table, but were able to avoid relegation to Damettan in the Playoffs to the SDHL. Brynäs IF defender Lara Stalder led the league in points with 71 and was named league MVP. Geneviève Bannon (born February 3, 1995) is a Canadian ice hockey forward, who last played with the Montréal section of the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA). Playing career Bannon began playing hockey at the age of four. She attended Collège Charles-Lemoyne before finishing her high school at the Ontario Hockey Academy. She then moved to the United States to attend Clarkson University, where she studied psychology and played for the university's women's hockey programme. Across 160 NCAA games with Clarkson, she scored 150 points, twice winning the NCAA championship.
