Göbelnrod Station
Göbelnrod (german: Bahnhof Göbelnrod) is a railway station in Göbelnrod, Hesse, Germany. The former through station has been converted to a flag stop. History 39 years after the commissioning of the first section of the Vogelsberg Railway from Giessen to Grünberg on 29 December 1869, Göbelnrod got a train station. It was opened on 1 July 1908. The first schedule provided nine stops: five towards Fulda, and four in the direction of Gießen. In the 1970s, due to a structural reform, the personnel were withdrawn. Even the closure associated with the demolition of the building has been up for discussion. The station The station is located on the Vogelsberg Railway (Gießen - Fulda). It is served by RB services operated by Deutsche Bahn. In 1908 the building was erected and the station was opened. Wirberg
Wirberg is a former monastery complex in the district of Giessen. It is located on the eastern edge of the municipality of Reiskirchen between Saasen and Göbelnrod, and about eight miles north-west of Grünberg. The church was once the Protestant Church serving the Grünberg districts of Göbelnrod, Beltershain, Harbach, Weitershain and Reinhardshain. Today, it is used as a church on special occasions. History The name "Wirberg" comes from ''Wereberch'', meaning "fortified hill". There was a fortified castle there at the beginning of the 12th century. The Premonstratensian monastery was founded as a double monastery between 1134 and 1148 by the Premonstratensian Otto von Cappenberg, who was provost of the Cappenberg monastery until his death in 1171. Cappenberg was founded as a double monastery. His brother, Godfrey of Cappenberg, had already founded Ilbenstadt Monastery. Giessen (''Landkreis Gießen'' in German) () is a ''Kreis'' (district) in the middle of Hessen, Germany. Neighboring districts are Marburg-Biedenkopf, Vogelsbergkreis, Wetteraukreis, and Lahn-Dill. History In 1821 the duchy of Hessen-Darmstadt created districts (called ''Landratsbezirke'') in the reorganisation of its internal administration. In the area of today's district the districts of Giessen and Grünberg were created. 1822 another district called Hungen was created. In 1832 these entities were replaced with bigger structures, now called ''Kreis''. There were still two districts, Giessen und Grünberg. 1837 several municipalities moved from Grünberg to Giessen, and Grünberg in exchange acquired some municipalities from Hungen, which became a district again in 1841. Giessen, spelled Gießen in German (), is a town in the German state (''Bundesland'') of Hesse, capital of both the district of Giessen and the administrative region of Giessen. The population is approximately 90,000, with roughly 37,000 university students. The name comes from ''Giezzen'', as it was first referred to in 1197, which refers to the position of the town between several rivers, lakes and streams.
