Gérard Calvi
Gérard Calvi (born Grégoire Krettly; 26 July 1922 – 20 February 2015) was a French composer. Interested in music from an early age, Calvi's first composing work was for the French production ''The Patron'' in 1949. From here he provided music for various French films, most notably ''Gangster Boss'', as well as the show ''La Plume de Ma Tante'', which was nominated for Best Musical at the 13th Tony Awards. He composed music for three Asterix films: ''Asterix the Gaul'', ''Asterix and Cleopatra'' and ''The Twelve Tasks of Asterix''. He also composed the memorable Asterix theme for the first film, which was dispensed with by the time the music for ''The Twelve Tasks of Asterix'' was composed in 1976. His last work was for the feature film ''The Crab Revolution'' in 2004. He died in 2015, aged 92. Shows * ''Ah! Conservatoire De Paris
The Conservatoire de Paris (), also known as the Paris Conservatory, is a college of music and dance founded in 1795. Officially known as the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), it is situated in the avenue Jean Jaurès in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, France. The Conservatoire offers instruction in music and dance, drawing on the traditions of the 'French School'. Formerly the conservatory also included drama, but in 1946 that division was moved into a separate school, the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique (CNSAD), for acting, theatre and drama. Today the conservatories operate under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Communication and are associate members of PSL University. Prix De Rome For Composition
Prix was an American power pop band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1975 by Tommy Hoehn and Jon Tiven. The group ended up primarily as a studio project. Its recordings were produced by Tiven along with former Big Star member Chris Bell, who also played guitar and sang backup vocals. Prix is also famous of Banjo playing. Alex Chilton also participated in the recordings, along with session drummer Hilly Michaels. Although the group generated some major record label interest—notably from Mercury Records and Columbia/CBS Records—it ultimately only released a double A-side single on Ork Records in 1977 and a single on Miracle Records in 1978. Its only live performance came at a CBS Records showcase in 1976. In 1977, just as Ork Records released the first single and booked the group at CBGB, Prix broke up due both to Hoehn's unwillingness to remain in New York and to creative differences. ''The Black Tulip'' (French: ''La Tulipe noire'') is a French-Italian-Spanish film which reused some names in the novel of the same title by Alexandre Dumas but its story does not follow the novel. It is, essentially, a star vehicle for the popular French actor Alain Delon. Like the popular European Karl May movies of the same time, the script actually used only the main characters of a popular novel, but didn't stick to the original story. Synopsis In June 1789 in the town of Roussillon, aristocrat Guillaume de Saint Preux leads a double life as a masked bandit known as the Black Tulip.
