Gymnastics At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's Artistic Individual All-around
The men's artistic individual all-around event at the 2020 Summer Olympics was held on 24 and 28 July 2021 at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre. Approximately 70 gymnasts from 35 nations (of the 98 total gymnasts) competed in the all-around in the qualifying round. Daiki Hashimoto of Japan became the youngest men's artistic gymnastics individual all-around champion in history at the age of 19, earning his first individual Olympic (gold) medal and second Olympic medal overall. He is also Japan's second youngest gymnast to win Olympic gold, losing the youngest title to Kenzo Shirai by only 6 days. This is the third gold in a row for Japan in the men's artistic individual all-around, after two consecutive gold medals won by Kōhei Uchimura at the last two Olympics in 2012 and 2016. The Ariake Gymnastics Centre is a temporary sports arena located in the Ariake, Tokyo, Ariake district of Tokyo, Japan. Alexei Nemov
Alexei Yurievich Nemov (russian: link=no, Алексей Юрьевич Немов; born 28 May 1976 in Barashevo, Mordovia) is a former artistic gymnast from Russia. Nemov is most celebrated gymnasts of all time. During his career, he won five world championships, three European championships and twelve Olympic medals. Early life Alexei Nemov grew up in Tolyatti on the Volga River. His father left him and his mother when Nemov was just a baby, and Nemov has never seen him since. Alexei started gymnastics at age five. Gymnastics career Nemov made his debut at the 1993 World Championships at the age of sixteen, placing fifth in the floor event. 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships was held in Stuttgart, Germany from October 4–13, 2019. The championships took place at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle, and was the third time the city of Stuttgart hosted the event following the 1989 and 2007 editions, and the fifth time Germany hosted it. As of October 2, 92 federations registered gymnasts for the event with a total of 288 men and 259 women. Sam Mikulak of the United States and Mélanie de Jesus dos Santos of France won the Longines Prize for Elegance. Both mark a first for their respective countries: de Jesus dos Santos is the first gymnast from France to win this prize, and Mikulak is the first male gymnast from the United States to win one.
