Gymnastics At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Qualification
This article describes the qualifying phase for gymnastics at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Qualification was based on the results of the three world gymnastics championships (rhythmic, artistic and trampoline) held in autumn 2015, and Olympic Test Events held in early 2016 at the HSBC Arena. In addition, the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique and the IOC Tripartite Commission for Gymnastics allocated places to ensure certain minimum levels of representation. Gymnastics At The 2016 Summer Olympics
Gymnastics at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was held in three categories: artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining. All gymnastics events were staged at the Arena Olímpica do Rio from 6 to 21 August 2016. Qualification Qualification was based on the results of the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, held in Glasgow, Scotland, from 24 October to 1 November 2015; the 2015 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, held in Stuttgart, Germany, from 7 to 13 September 2015; the 2015 Trampoline World Championships, held in Odense, Denmark, from 25 to 28 November 2015; and the 2016 Gymnastics Olympic Test Event, Olympic Test Event, held on 16–22 April 2016 at Arena Olímpica do Rio. Miguel Rayderley Zapata Santana (born May 26, 1993) is a Spanish male artistic gymnast of Dominican Republic origin, and a member of the national team. He won the gold medal in the men's floor exercise at the 2015 European Games, and bronze at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Glasgow. Scott Morgan (gymnast)
Scott Morgan (born 20 June 1989) is an elite level Canadian artistic gymnast who represented Canada in the 2014 Commonwealth Games, winning two gold medals, and represented Canada in the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro. Morgan is coached by Vali Stan and a member of the Flicka gymnastics club. Morgan is considered one of the best male gymnasts in Canada. Career Morgan began gymnastics when he was four years old at the Flicka gymnastics club. His parents were the first to get him involved. However, while at high school he quit gymnastics for four years. In 2007, he returned to the sport, saying: "Pretty much within the first week back I was like, 'man, why did I ever leave?' Manrique Larduet Bicet (born July 10, 1996) is a Cuban former artistic gymnast. Larduet grew up in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba and is famous for his history-making silver at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He has also competed at the Pan American Games. At the 2017 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, although he qualified first into the all-around, he had mistakes on floor exercise and pommel horse in the finals, and ended up in fifth place, the winner being Xiao Ruoteng of China. Eleftherios "Lefteris" Petrounias ( gr, Ελευθέριος "Λευτέρης" Πετρούνιας; born 30 November 1990, Athens) is a Greek artistic gymnast. He is the 2016 Olympic champion, 2020 Olympic bronze medalist, three-time World champion (2015, 2017, 2018) and a six-time (2011, 2015–18, 2021, 2022) European medalist on the still rings (six gold and one bronze).
